How do you and your SO hold hands?

My husband and I clasp hands; his hands are much larger than mine, and trying to interlace my fingers around his thick fingers hurts after a while.

The really weird thing is, we always end up doing this with my hand around “back” of his (his arm in front). If we try to do it the other way, it just feels too weird, our arms bump too much and it’s uncomfortable.

Usually with fingers interlocking, but sometimes she has her arm hooked around mine.

The way varies…sometimes we interlace, sometimes we don’t. We don’t di the pinky-clasp thing too often, and we generally don’t put our arms around each other a lot, just because I feel it’s too “lovey-dovey” for a public place. If we’re walking at night or in a place with a few people we’ll walk like that. But the one requirement that always has to be met is that she be on my right side. I get a weird feeling if anyone is on my left side…I just don’t like it. I also wear my watch on my right hand (and am right-handed) so I just don’t like anything having to do with my left side.

Do both the ‘finger lacing’ and the normal hand holding thing. What we end up doing the most is just walking with our arms around each other. It’s a real treat for me as this was usually awkward with other women, the girl I’m dating now is the first I’ve dated who was within half a foot of my height (I’m just short of 6’6", she’s 6’ even). My arm goes around her shoulder quite comfortably.

Sometimes interlocked, but she’s a lot smaller than me, so it’s a bit difficult. Usually we just clasp. The problem with her holding just one finger is that she has a tendency to suddenly swing her arms without warning and has twisted my fingers pretty badly on occasion.

His hands are much larger than mine… Usually my left hand in his right hand. We actually hold hands kinda weird: My pinky is between his middle finger and forefinger. My ring finger, middle finger and index finger are between his forefinger and thumb. My thumb is on the top of his thumb.

I don’t know if that makes total sense… This arrangement can be simulated with your own hands. Hold your right hand out, palm almost level with the foor. Put your left pinky between your right middle finger and forefinger, then grab your right thumb with your left forefinger and thumb.

Anyway, we think of it as “our” handholding style.

13 years of marriage and we’re still total dorks.
