How do you pronounce huan?

As in Huanhuan, one of the mascots for the Beijing Olympics.

Thanks!

Something like ‘hwan-hwan’. The ‘h’ is pronounced a bit raspier than the English ‘h’. Something like the Spanish name ‘Juan’.

Here’s a quick audio clip of the pronunciation of huan (Warning: Quicktime plugin required). Just in case you’re curious, here’s the other mascots: bei jing ying ni

And here, I was hoping that Huanhuan would turn out to be a huge wolfhound.

Bei Jing Huan Ying Ni

Beijing welcomes you.

Bei3 Jing1 Huan1 Ying2 Ni3

1st tone (Jing1 Huan1) is pronounced as a high straight-across tone
2nd tone (Ying2) is a rising tone
3rd tone (Bei3 and Ni3) is a dipping tone, down & back up
4th tone is a falling tone–not used by the mascots

北京 欢迎 你 <- simplified characters
北京 歡迎 你 <- traditional (or “old style” or “full form”) characters

My first hope too!
