How do YOU pronounce "knichi"?

I originally posted this as a reply to this thread but it seems (as is so often the case) that my post has fallen (or is falling) by the wayside.

I’m doing the play Barefoot in the Park and no one can seem to agree on a pronounciation for the scene where they eat knichis. It’s not in any of the dictionaries I’ve looked in, a search with MSN brings up really weird stuff, and a search with Google brings up reviews of Barefoot in the Park productions, if you can appreciate that irony.

So, anyone?

I’m not arguing your spelling, this is just what I found: knish.

Hope this helps.

Ahhh… Well I was just going by the spelling in the script, but it sure seems to be the same thing. Many thanks, KTK!

Are you in the cast or crew? In college I was the Properties Mistress and also worked construction for the set.

I had so much fun making the heater that hung on our set…blue styrofoam is amazing stuff!! LOL

I also seem to remember the cast party…we did a taste test of the UZO that was used for the show…WOW!! Strong Stuff…

Hi Angelnside,

I got the lead (Paul) and my fiance got Corie… cool, huh? The read-through is this Sunday… a pretty long rehearsal; the show’s not until late January.

You did not actually use alcohol for the drink, did you??
