So the story is I bought a Fossil watch off the internet but due to my seemingly small wrists, the watch still fits too loosely even after adjusting the latching mechanism…
So I’m pretty sure there is a way you can remove some of the links on the band itself but have no clue how to. Three links on each side of the latching mechanism have arrows pointing to one side, but I don’t know how to get them de-attached or otherwise remove them. Any experience out there? Will I need a special tool?
you can have it adjusted usually for a very small fee(or free) at any watch store. When I had mine adjusted they used a little hammer and a little tiny rod that pushed the pins holding the links together out.
Without seeing your watch, I can’t say for sure, but here are some hints.
In one kind, the optional links have sliding pins you can drive out to remove the link. Hold a straight pin (from your new shirt) in the jaws of pliers, and push the end of the sliding pin. When the sliding pin comes out the other side, pull it out with the pliers. Work slowly to avoid bending something or stabbing your fingers.
In some other kinds, a part of the link may be slid to one side to open a hidden latch. You said your band has arrows, and these may be a clue.
Again, work slowly. If you have to hold a link in a vise or pliers, protect it with leather or something to avoid scratches. If you do take it to a jeweler, ask if you can watch her do the work.
