I think he’ll/they’ll be identified, but it will take quite some time. Like the Unabomber case.
Then I think it’ll end in an ugly armed standoff / hail of bullets.
I’d kind of like it if someone else–preferably a private citizen–shot him while he was in the middle of setting up for a shot. Poetic justice.
Wonder if there’s a connection between the two. I don’t see how, but one never knows.
If the sniper does this it makes me worry that it’ll spawn a whole new set of killings by folks that think it would be easy and fun to get away with. Which is what the sniper is doing in my opinion. He is mocking the law inforcement agencies by staying aloof.
I was suggesting it as a very spooky concept, but didn’t mean it so seriously. Upon reflection I thought, “gee, that really IS a spooky concept.”
Three choices:
It will simply stop.
A hail of gunfire with the police.
Someone will be stopped for a minor traffice violation, and it will be determined he’s the sniper.
That witness has now been discredited.
IMHO, the worst kind of sicko’s are the smart ones.
One has to wonder if this guy isn’t completely playing off the media. He’s probably watching everything on TV about the investigation and misleading the police.
Take the “white van” for example. I’ve seen it called a tan-colored van, a box truck, a chevy-style van, a mitsubishi van, one’s with lettering, and just about every other brand out there - how many types of white vans does this guy have, and how can the witnesses accounts be so varied?
What if there just happened to be a white van around when he fired each time? Is that impossible? Anyway, if he’s really smart, he’d probably shoot from 400 yards like he’s capable of, when a white van is in the immediate area simply to mislead everyone.
Also, it’s hard to believe that if he was truly riding around in a white van, that he would continue to, even when the police are so hot on his trail.
As far as how it will end, well, I don’t see it ending anytime soon unfortunately. Especially given the misleading “eyewitness” account made yesterday.

That was my thinking. He’ll get caught when he is weaving in front of a state trooper. Hopefully with a van/car/truck/whatEVER full of weaponry.
Or fade into oblivion like Ted Unabomber did for oh so many years. I hope this isn’t the case, but hey…look at all the ones that have done it.
If he is acting alone, he won’t be caught.
If he has an accomplice, say, a driver, it will be years before he is caught. His driver-accomplice won’t spill the beans until then.
In either scenario, we will have more snipers around the country within six months. I’m betting during the holiday shopping coming up.
He’ll say “I have to go now. My planet needs me.”, and will ratchet up out of the frame.
From the behavior of the media I’d say the cops don’t really have much.
So if he stops it’s likely he’ll never get fingered.
If he keeps it up eventually he’ll screw up. Everyone does.
And if it’s a group of people acting as terrorists then God alone knows how it ends.
