With any luck, this whole nightmare will end before someone else is killed. I think the police will track the nutjob down and they’ll end up in a gun battle with the wacko offing himself before he gets captured. Either way, I seriously doubt this loony will ever see the inside of a jail.
Perhaps he will simply stop, like Jack the Ripper.

Hail-of-gunfire gets my vote as well. This guy won’t stop until he’s captured or dead, and he’d rather go out in a blaze of bullets. He will probably try to take some cops/civilians down with him as well.
Some law-enforcement types will figure out who it is with info from one of the last “hits”.
He’ll be captured and convicted of one or two of the later shootings, but not all of them.
After last night’s shooting the police announced they had their best witness evidence yet: a partial license number and two men seen in a van (yes, probable ethnicity reported - anyone want to take a stab at it? I’m steering clear until facts are known.). AP says that the police feel they’re close to an arrest.
I see him being gunned down by the police too. I don’t think this sort of ruthless marksman will let it end any other way. Hope the police are wearing bullet proof vests when it happens…

Siege with hostages, some or all of whom will be killed before the SWAT team storms in; the sniper will not be taken alive.

The idea that someone can kill people for days on end and then just stop and melt back into society without being noticed is a little freaky.
He will just stop. The new(or maybe even the same) Zodiac Killer. If he stopped now it he would have 11 victims with 9 dead. 9/11 seems to be a terrorist number.
What would be the best ending for the families of the victims? A trial or a dead killer? A friend of mine was shot some years back, and the guy who did it turned the gun on himself. My friend was glad he didn’t have to deal with a trial and the possibility of the killer getting off. So, would the sniper going down in a hail of police bullets be more comfort to those left behind? I wonder…
The sniper will be captured, and killed by another sniper who will forever escape justice.
Then the FBI will reveal how the killer was actually trained by the CIA in Afghanistan, and was used to train members of Osama bin Laden’s terrorist network.
Well, at least there are now witnesses who’ve seen the sniper…
The police reported this morning on television that a sketch with be released soon.
I think since the military announced that they will be using Army planes with high tech surveillance equipment to try to capture the culprit(s) - he will simply stop any further attacks (out of fear of being caught) and will never be captured.

I was just thinking about this. One one hand I’d like to have a tv-like resolution, with the killer in jail or dead, but if it takes him getting away with it to stop the killing, is that worth it? What if he just stopped now that the police are getting close? It’s hard to complain that it stopped, isn’t it?
I’m not confident in his ability to just stop, though.
I’m surprised that the police aren’t doing a huge search based off of white vans that have one or two of the numbers supposedly seen on the plates. Of course, if the plates were stolen…
I would imagine that they are doing such a search and not telling anyone about it.
