How do You Tie Yours

And then we have the sinister “double bow” that prevents them from coming untied…

My Dad gets three loops when finished, instead of the standard two.

I don’t know how he does it though.

I think that’s why I never have been able to use just one loop. My motor skills are decent, but I’m terrible at reversing anything. I get lost on the way home from places I got directions to; I can’t mimic what someone does with their right hand (learning how to crochet was horrible.) Now, had a leftie tried to teach me to tie my shoes, then maybe I would have figured it out…but my dad, another leftie, can’t do the one loop method either.

Colophon the bunny-ear method is on the same site that Lsura linked to. It doesn’t come untied very often if you pull the knots tight. Oh, and if you don’t do what it says (not to) in the warning box at the bottom.

I use the two loop method, although my mom watched me do it once and told me I do it backwards. I’m not sure what she meant by that. I had never heard of the bunny ear method until I met my husband. He still uses it. He’s fifty, I’m 48, and we both grew up in the midwest USA. He’s more of a city kid than I am, if that makes any difference. Not to mention the fact that his mom grew up in a boarding home. I don’t know if that has anything to do with it, since I never saw her tie her shoes.
