How does Frank Skinner get such high-profile guests?? (UK specific thread)

Britney Spears, Pam Anderson, Tom Jones, Michael Moore, Elton John, Sam L Jackson, Tony Blair!

Frank strikes me as a bit of a third-rate moderately funny blokes bloke, and is show as a low budget channel 5 affair (probably the US equivalent of that remark is “public access” to mean cheap/low budget). How does his show consistently attract high-profile guests??

I think this will do better in Cafe Society.

Sorry, I could swear that’s where I put it in the first place. :smack:

Isn’t the better question ‘why does Frank Skinner exist?’?

No, I’ve no explanation as to why they get on his show…except that (excepting Parky) the traditional evening talkshow does not exist in Britain any more. Plenty of B-to-A-ish-list celebs have appeared with Graham Norton, or on the Kumars, etc.

Jonathan Ross?
He’s in the mould of traditional evening talkshows surely?

As for OP - no idea, they probably tell the American guests that he’s a big cheese.

I don’t know anything about Skinner, but the answer is simple:

He asks them.

I’d also guess he’s probably not a particularly tough interviewer. This works for James Lipton in the US.

It’s quite trendy to be on his show - he has an appeal to a different audience and, as already said, he’s not a difficult interviewer.
