How does it work in a legal marijuana dispensary?

What’s the procedure, for, say, determining the strain of marijuana for a particular ailment?

If this handy siteis to be believed, different strains will have quite particular effects. That Cannabis indica is more of a body high is beyond a doubt. (The bulk of the comments in the site regarding each strain are typical kids’ accounts of simply being stoned, but some more nuanced opinions occasionally appear.)

So what does a typical prescription look like?

And what all else goes on in filling a prescription?

[This amusing story on a fever in stock capitalization of a dispensary coincidentally came out today.]

There’s one a few doors down from my shop in Durango, CO. One of my workers has his Red Card. You walk in, show them your ID and Red Card. There’s a small waiting area. You take turns going into the purchasing room. It’s treated like the pharmacy at Costco; you’re supposed to keep a polite distance.

There are no prescriptions. You just buy what you like. There’s some upper limit but it’s set at a level to accommodate people in hospice. It’s okay to talk to the staff about medical conditions, but they get evasive if you ask what would be best strain for that upcoming concert.
