I am pretty much a novice at making websites. I am currently redoing my site and in the process am learning Dreamweaver.
So far so good. I’ve taught myself a bit. For example, I have hooked up the web cam and it works! Hooray for me!
I want to be able to put pictures up (and the webcam) for my parents to view my baby. It noids me out to have them out in the public.
Is there some sort of code that I can add that will enable the use of passwords?
Will people be able to get around it by looking at my directory? Is this something that is best not left to novices such as myself?
Also, in case it matters, I am not hosting myself. I am using the services of www.your-site.com
Thanks in advance!
Unfortunately your host is running Zeus/4.2 on Solaris 9 so I haven’t the foggiest.
Just thought the Zeus/4.2 on Solaris 9 might help someone else though.
Thanks for the help.
Apparently it’s not as easy as I thought it would be.
Contact the folks who host your site and ask them. They’ll be able to help you.
I just did and am waiting for their reply.
I asked here first because I assumed it was a general coding thing.
If the site is running Apache, which it most likely is, then you want to use a .htaccess file. I have personally never made one, but I kind of understand how they work.
What I understand isn’t important, though, because there is this that shows you all about the file.
If that doesn’t work, then there will probably be something that your provider can show you.
