How does one submit a game they invented for consideration for production?

I have a couple ideas ( nothing on paper) about board games for kids.

I have zero idea of how to go about taking it any steps further than a woolgathering moment in the sawdust corners of my mind.

Anyone know anything about this area?
Mucho Gracias.

I once actually came up with a game idea (when I was a kid) that got a company intrerested in it.

I’ve also gotten a book published, by a publisher that shjould’ve known better.

In both cases I came up with a good Proposal that showed the company that I had a new and original idea, had thought it out, and knew where to go with it. In the case of the book, I provided a sample chapter. For the game, I wrote an essay on the theory. Something I didn’t do in either case (but should’ve, in retrospect) was to tell them who the potential market was.

Above all, you have to persuade them that it would be a good idea to obtain your game and sell it to people, because they will make more money than they’ll lose.

(There are probably books on this. Check a big bookstore or Amazon. If you can’t find a book, this looks like a good opportunity to fill a niche.)

Self-publish.

Make the game as a complete entity- get the artwork together, obtain or make the pieces, and figure out how much it will cost you to produce them effectively. Then put the presentation together on a webpage, and show it to potential investors or customers.

This way, no one can steal your idea and claim it theirs, and you get the profit. If you get orders for more than you can handle, well, that’s a problem that can be dealt with. DON"T pay one of those “submit your idea” companies; there’s no way to know if they’re on the level.
