I do not know if this belongs to IMHO, but IMHO it belongs here. I am about to engage in a campagn to raise awareness of a human rights issue at a local educational institution. I would like to apply some external pressure to ensure the issue gets the attention it deserves. Subsequently I am interested in learning about tactics for engaging in a media campaign with little to no budget. I do have a website and a handful of contacts within the media. How do I get started in bringing attention to this issue?
and yes, I am aware that the first step in any successful media campagn :smack: is finding someone reliable to proofread your releases.
There’s a LOT of books on this topic. Visit a library and write down some of the tips those books give that you think you can do.
They allow those sorts of books in Chinese libraries?
wow, it honestly did not occur to me to look to a library. I’ve read a few books on how to deal with the press, but not on creating a campaign from the ground up. My only concern might be that it may be tough to find a book that addresses the new shape of the modern media in relation to technology. But perhaps I’ll be pleasantly surprised.
cheers.
Check out books by Jay Conrad Levinson (click that link and see all the various related titles on the page).
I picked up his original guerilla marketing book a while back - except it was a little out of date by the time I got it, it mostly featured print outlets. However, it looks like he updated the book recently.
I only suggested the library because you wanted to do it for as cheap as possible. Going through a lot of books will get you the best set of ideas that’ll work for you, but having a lot of books is expensive - unless they’re free.
