For file transfers involving more than few megs serial DCC is so slow as to be virtually unusable. The last time I used DCC was in the late 80’s on a pair of XT machines and it was considered dog slow even then. Parallel DCC is substantially quicker, but still quite slow. Reasonably speedy USB DCC cables are available if you don’t want to go the ethernet route assuming both the PCs have USB port.
