I am 100 yards from Baseline road, which was the boundary between the Kansas territory (slave) and the Nebraska territory (free). I am on the Nebraska side.
128 miles to Tijuana, Mexico; 231 miles to Arizona.
From my place in the far NW side of Chicago (east of Rosemont):
About 40 miles N to the Wisconsin border (driving)
About 35 miles E to the Illinois/Michigan border in Lake Michigan (as the crow flies)
About 30 miles SE to the Indiana border (driving)
My guess is that wolfman lives around Sterling Heights or Troy in Michigan.

I live in Evansville IN, the southern-most city in Indiana. Give me 15 minutes on a high-traffic day and I can be in Kentucky.

I’m in Mesa County, CO, just a little east of 29-1/2 Road, which means I’m a little more than 29-1/2 miles from the Utah border. Pretty close for a state in the western US!

I’m in Scotland, the border with England is about 80 miles south of here.
I can’t drive directly to a foreign country. The nearest is the Republic of Ireland: two hours by car to Stranraer, two hours by ferry to Belfast, and another, what, hour or so to the border?
I’m in central Texas. The closet would driving six hours to the east to enter Louisana. Or driving 2 and a half hours to go into Mexico via Eagle Pass.
I’m about 530 miles from Georgia, which is the only state I could drive to from here.
I could hit the Florida state line in just under 9 miles, though…Atlantic side.

I live in Iowa. From where I am sitting in my living room, if I turn my head slightly to the right I can see over the Mississippi to Wisconsin. If I continue my head turn a bit further, I can see Illinois.
At most. 45 minutes would probably do it. Didn’t realise the crossing was 2hrs. Had it in my head it was shorter up there.
