How fast do you type?

I hit 61wpm, which isn’t bad considering I haven’t been in a work environment for about four years now. The most typing I do is posting answers to this board or copying a recipe.

Nice

88 WPM for me with one error. I think I used to be in the 90s as a teen (I also learned to type via BBSes and IMs) so I’m glad to know I haven’t slipped much.

I probably have more typos than ever, tho. I was surprised how few errors I had on the test.

73 with zero mistakes. That strikes me as about right, but this keyboard is terrible. I have to hit the space bar really hard to get it to register.

I got a 102 on the test you posted, but it seemed pretty easy (short words, no symbols). I would say 80wpm normally.

When I replied in the other thread, I got 60 words per minute. I just took it again and got:

Words per minute (WPM) 70
Keystrokes 368
Correct words 63
Wrong words 2

Words per minute (WPM) 93
Keystrokes 482
Correct words 86
Wrong words 2

67 wpm, which sounds about right. I’m not ordinarily going for speed, except when I’m taking notes while I’m interviewing someone – and with those, I just let the typos fly, then go back and do corrections after.

Words per minute (WPM) 128
Keystrokes 647
Correct words 122
Wrong words 1
You reached 638 Points so you achieved position 114 of 73302 on the ranking list (last 24 hours)

A buck twenty probably, on a good day.

EDIT:

Words per minute (WPM) 129
Keystrokes 662
Correct words 123
Wrong words 2
You reached 646 Points so you achieved position 100 of 73207 on the ranking list (last 24 hours)

Bam, son. Read 'em and weep:

Words per minute (WPM) 331
Keystrokes 1715
Correct words 315
Wrong words 9
You reached 1656 Points so you achieved position 1 of 73096 on the ranking list (last 24 hours)

I noticed this little glitch as well

If you are typing blisteringly fast, the counter basically stops! I don’t know enough about the coding of the page to explain it, but effectively makes each second a little longer. This is the result I just received:

Words per minute (WPM) 289
Keystrokes 1652
Correct words 294
Wrong words 24
You reached 1447 Points so you achieved position 1 of 73105 on the ranking list (last 24 hours)

Oh seriously? I was starting to wonder why that minute felt so farking long. I posted the results to my facebook page so I could gloat.

I’m also using a really outdated browser because I’m at work (IE6). I wonder if that affected it, too?

71, with two errors.

69wpm.

Would have been a lot lower if it had used some capital letters as I’ve never got into the habit of shifting properly since the keyboard I learnt to type on only had one working shift key.

On the other hand it might have been faster had they used actual sentences since I find myself struggling to not insert words between the gibberish to try to form sentences out of them. Did that happen to anyone else?

For how much time I spend at the computer I really should learn to type better.

I had the same situation with an old browser as well…just tried on Chrome and it worked properly. My result:

Words per minute (WPM) 89
Keystrokes 504
Correct words 87
Wrong words 8
You reached 446 Points so you achieved position 3011 of 73116 on the ranking list (last 24 hours)

106 words per minute. I never learned to type the “right” way with all four fingers in that ASDF JKL; position, but I can type without looking and it’s plenty fast enough. So haha, Mom.

I got 109wpm. I’m normally a bit faster, but that’s on a standard desktop keyboard. I’m on my netbook right now.

52, 1 error. Hunt n peck if we’re not counting self-system like the other thread.

97 wpm, 1 error. The 95-100 wpm range is what I usually score in (peaking in the low 110s from time to time, depending on the content), so that looks about right to me. I didn’t cheat and chose the 70-100 wpm range.

88 with zero errors. Seems about right.
