I’m headed home to Peoria this weekend, taking a bus from O’ Hare (I really wish Amtrak went to Peoria). I’ll be taking the Blue Line to the airport, and then I have to go to the “Bus/Shuttle Center.” I tried looking at a map of the airport online, and I was already confused. Is it easy enough to find my way around? Plenty of signs? Anyone know how far the bus station is from the train station?
It’s not far at all; in fact, unless things have been rearranged substantially in the last few years, you won’t have to go into the airport proper at all. When you exit the the CTA station, you’ll find yourself in a large underground tunnel connecting the three terminals. The entrance to the Bus/Shuttle Center is also off of this tunnel. Once you get into this tunnel, look for signs pointing you to the Bus/Shuttle Center; if memory serves, the icon for the Bus/Shuttle center is a dark blue (black?) bus on a red background. You’ll follow the tunnel to some elevators, go up one level, and the bus/shuttle center will be off to one side. It shouldn’t take you more than five minutes to get from station to station, even if you have a large bag in tow.
ETA: This map is fairly clear. The blue line is, well, the Blue Line, and the CTA terminal is marked on the map. You walk from the station to elevator 3 or 4 (the white boxes are elevators), go up one level, and you’re at the Bus/Shuttle center (the red shaded area above the train station.)
When you exit the train, go towards the escalators (the only way out) like
everyone else. Go up the escalators to the payment area and go out through the turnstyles, then immediately turn right and walk until you get to the next elevator bank. The bus/shuttle center is indicated on the elevator buttons. It is up one level.
The symbol for the bus/shuttle center is a red square with a bus on it. You will see overhead signs like the following:

Notice the red square on the sign, that is the bus/shuttle center symbol. Just follow the signs.
The elevator center will have the following on the wall outside it:
Elevator Center Wall.
The bus center is above the train station.
