You’d probably have to have been there to appreciate the full horrors of Laursen’s positioning, Crusoe.
Oh and BTW, here’s something I just read on a Celtic list. Who are they talking about and should I be pleased?
That would be “One Size” Fitz Hall (real name Colin), our 21-year-old central defender.
An absolute star in the making. Very similar in style and ability to Rio Ferdinand, but more composed (Rio has a tendency to drop off his man and then rush back in at the last minute when his partner is outnumbered, thus looking a better defender than he actually is).
We signed him for about £20,000 towards the end of last season from Chesham United, where he was recommended to Ian Dowie by the manager – his brother Bob Dowie. Formerly with West Ham and Barnet, he’s on a four-year deal with us and has already been watched by Liverpool, Middlesbrough and Aston Villa. He’s only played about a dozen matches for us but is already being valued in the papers at at least £2m.
A genuinely huge prospect. I’d be gutted if we lost him but it’s only a matter of time.
Well, interesting as all this talk of the minor leagues is…
What about the internationals coming up?
England should have no trouble with Slovakia and Macedonia (famous last words no doubt).
But are Scotland REALLY frightened of Iceland (who are favourites to win ferchrissakes)?
No Spurs boys in the Ingerland team, which I’m quite grateful for in a way as they will have time to rest.
Keane and Doherty in the ROI side though. We really want Keano to come through htis unscathed.
Minor leagues … heh. When’s Spurs next European match again?
Sorry for the delay L-C but we’ve been going so badly I hardly dared open up this thread.
Harte seems to be making little use of the dead ball when he gets a free kick in useful positions, it’s not as if he gets the thing on target, its a good thing the stands are so high.
Still, we can always smile at the mighty Stavinger crushing those minnows Chelsea.
Reid is somewhat unlucky I think, more a victim of circumstance, he built up a good enthusiastic squad and just when he needed to add one or two good experienced players to bring the young 'uns along, the board denied him the means and spent it all on a new stadium.
Message for the Sunderland board, success comes on the field, not in the grandstand, releasing funds when no-one suitable is available is just too little too late.
