How have you grown on the sdmb?

The SD was the first (and to date the only) internet message board in which I participated. I was initially very dismissive of some of the more ‘personal’ contributions and expressions of congratulations, sympathy etc., amongst people who had never met. I’m still not a great sharer but I understand to a much greater extent where these people are coming from. I think I respect the community and its customs, rules etc. to a far greater degree that I did in my early days here.

I’ve also learned a lot about Americans, and more particularly about how incorrect the stereotypes are.

Seeing as Guinastasia was brave enough to share an embarrassing early post (although it wasn’t that bad), I’ll do likewise. In a thread entitled Hanging black crepe for Lady Marjorie, which was a fond obit for an actress from Upstairs Downstairs, I contributed this gem:

I can’t believe I was so disrespectful in a thread where the tone was completely at odds with that of my post.

That’s bloody funny, though.

I am thankful that my worst thread/post/ghastly cock-up trainwreck of an invitation to pit me in the Pit got lost in the Winter of our Missed Content. Anyone who remembers it, please forgive me.

Well, kinda new here…but I’ve learned not to be so melodramatic-- especially when writing.

…Still learning every day…

Well if nothing else, I’ve learned to work vB code * I think*

I have learned that Americans/women/dopers-with-high-post-counts are right - even when they are wrong.

Joking.

I believe I have grown an awful lot - mostly thanks to the SDMB.

I haven’t the energy right now to go into detail, maybe tomorow.
