How I spent my Saturday

Roomie and I planned to get together with friends in Seattle today. That didn’t work out, but she and I did go to the Seattle Aquarium. That was nice. I think the last time I went to an aquarium was a Dopefest at the Long Beach Aquarium. Frankly, Long Beach was better; but we still enjoyed it. We bought combo tickets that included a one-hour harbour tour on one of the Argosy boats. It was a beautiful day to be out on the water! We saw a B-17 flying around, too. Afterward we went to Elliott’s Oyster House and shared a dozen oysters on half-shells. I had the blackened rockfish tacos and a cup of Copper River salmon bisque, and she had a bowl of the bisque and a salad. We poked into Ye Olde Curiosity Shop and looked at the mummies and shrunken heads and stuff, then took a walk down to the ferry terminal. Iced mochas from Starbuck’s on the way back to the car.

We drove around a bit, and then decided to head home. Too bad we forgot about the zoo. Since we weren’t in a hurry, I got off the freeway at Chuckanut Drive for the trip up to Bellingham. I pulled off at Boulevard Park and we walked the length of it and back.

Finally home, we’re settling in to watch Apocalypse Now Redux, drinking Fat Tire Ale, and thinking about the smoked salmon we’ll snack on later.

It’s been a fun day.

I don’t know much about your roomy but I do know that 98% of light romantic comedies don’t have any scenes as touching as you described. The only one that comes close is Leslie Neilson and Priscilla Presley when they first met on Naked Gun.

Sounds good. Having been to both recently, I prefer the Vancouver Acquarium (and in Vancouver/Richmond you can actually get good Chinese food unlike the crap that is served in Seattle). The kiddos loved both places, but only in Vancouver can you get spit on by a Beluga.
