How is it that "Earth Girls are Easy" doesn't show up on more Greatest Films of All Time lists?

I do want to say that even tho I have a fan of this, “Greatest Film” is a stretch. It should show up on “The 100 most Fun films of all time” however.

Corner of Ventura and Laurel Canyon. I spent many a day at that very corner. Dupar’s is still there. After they tore down the carwash there was a big hole in the ground for years and years, then they put up a mini-mall. Sigh.

The Fly.

This one was the best.

If you have to ask there’s not much point in saying, but:
[ul]
[li]The entire ‘Orson Welles Halloween invasion being true’ plot point.[/li][li]Having Yakov Smirnov as the Secretary of State (and him playing it completely straight).[/li][li]Having the President inexplicably in traction the whole time.[/li][li]“Why’s there a watermelon there?”[/li][li]“Yes on one, no on two”[/li][li]“Wait, which was no? Number one or go ahead and blow up the Earth?!”[/li][li]“I’m sure that, IN THE MISERABLE ANNALS OF THE EARTH…”[/li][li]“Big Boo-tay! Tay!!”[/li][li]“The man’s been thru solid matter for god’s sake!”[/li][li]“We’re not in the eight dimension. We are over New Jersey”[/li][/ul]And the fact that none of these are dwelled on for cheap laughs, they’re just laid out there matter of factly. Blink and you’d miss them.

You can’t remake Buckaroo Banzai; John LIithgow is irreplaceable.

Go there and see what highbrow actually means. None of your examples fit the definition. Now, if I had asked for examples of self-conscious, labored attempts to be hip,

Whatever. Even after reading Wiki’s definition I still stand by my post. As I said none of those examples are ‘labored’ or ‘attempts to be hip’, they are examples of subtle, genuinely smart & witty humor that are an order of magnitude above stuff like Earth Girls. I put *Buckaroo *in a class of films like Return of the Living Dead, Airplane!, Neighbors, The Producers, Dr. Srangelove etc.

Perhaps the hijack about Buckaroo Banzai deserves it’s own thread?

These are also words that I think you should look up. None of your examples were any of those things, either.

I love this movie.

“Give us bread!”
“We need junk!”

“I could make Valerie feel good. I could make Valerie feel very good.”
'Are you coming on to me?"
“This is easy.”
