How is the ammo availability situation lately?

I’ve not seen any factory loads of popular AR calibers since Sandy Hook, with the exception of one small gun shop in a little CO town that had 2 boxes of my cherished Hornady Vmax. Bought 'em both. I did check out a place a couple of weeks ago that had pallets of .223 and most everything else, 50 cal even, but they were all reloads.

At Gander, Bass Pro, Academy and WalMart anytime anything comes in the first couple of customers seem to buy it all.

I disagree. You have about 5k too many .308 rounds.
I can stop by anytime with pizza for you while I load the excess up.

I’m pretty sure you have too much .50BMG as well.

I think any citizen who is not in jail and not on probation should have *all *their rights restored.

Hell, that’s probably the scenario that makes the most sense – they’ll be making money hand over fist. That’s what it’s all about, not gun rights.

The K31 is my favorite WWII era rifle. The build quality is fantastic! They ware manufactured by SIG and Hammerli from high grade Swiss steel to very high tolerances. Truly a great rifle to shoot, and wow, are they accurate. The best ammunition to use is standard issue GP11, with the strange wax ring sealing the bullet to the case. I have a bunch of it to feed both of my K31s.

Side note: anyone with a thing for battle rifles of the WWII era owe it to themselves to get their hands on a K31 rifle. These rifles never went through a war, so the only real wear on them was a result of training and handling. Being Swiss, the took excellent care of these weapons. I’ve never heard of a K31 on the surplus market with a shot out or rusted out bore. Oh, and the GP11 service ammunition is non-corrosive. Mosin-Nagant and Mauser owners know the significance of this.

I just opened up one of the 40mm grenade (for the Mk19) ammo cans I store the .22LR ammunition. My Federal .22LR Box-O-Bullets is actually 550 rounds, in a red/ maroon box. They properly fit the chamber in the Volquartsen barrel on one of my 10/22s as well as the tighter chamber of my modded Ruger MkII SlabSide. The Remington Box-O-Bullets will not seat properly in either gun. For plinking, the Federals are the way to go, both for reliable feeding, and cleaner operation. Accuracy is acceptable. So I stocked up.

It’s gotten so bad that the Congress had to step in and say cut it out.

You can also open up the buttplate to get the name of the guy it was originally issued to. Unfortunately, I have the most generic Swiss name ever in mine. I forget exactly, but somewhere along the lines of Hans Schmidt.

No real interest in guns; but how does it differ between them being all that and uncaught, and them being identified as such ? If, undetected — and most will be undetected forever — they can safely use weapons, then there will be no additional danger from them when their psychosis is recognised. They are the same people, labelled or not.
Just as when they are voting. An undetected insane person and a detected insane person is the same person: but in one state, detected, rights to vote are forfeited despite the outcome being no different either way.

Well, at least you’re admitting that a well-known conspiracy theory has inspired citizens to hoard ammunition.

“Gun enthusiasts fearful of new weapon controls…” (what weapon controls are you fearful of?) “…and alarmed by rumors of government hoarding are buying bullets practically by the bushel…”

Yep. Rumors.
