Duluth dropped to 545 today, down from 1100 yesterday (Ours goes up to 11!).
At least, Trump is going to tariff the smoke. So, we’ll all get rich while we suffocate.
Just arrived in Toronto from SW Ohio. Hazy & foggy the whole way.
It looks reasonable right now in southern Ontario – just overcast, and we had a little rain earlier which probably helped with the fires and air pollution.
A couple of days ago I came downstairs and the sunlight coming in through the big glass doors looked oddly orange and faint. I didn’t think anything of it except “this is what sunlight probably looks like on Pluto” and attributed it to heavy overcast, but in retrospect this unusual light was almost certainly due to wildfire smoke.
We’re back in the red all day even with rain.
We still have a “Yellow” (lowest severity) air quality warning for tonight and overnight, but a major improvement is expected tomorrow. No significant rain in the forecast, unfortunately. 60% chance of showers on Tuesday is about the best there is in terms of rain.
Air quality is now down to 49!

DC suburbs, Virginia side. I went out yesterday morning just to see what it was like, and it smelled like the neighbors were having a bonfire. That was about 5:30am on the 17th. By noon I had a killer sinus headache; very sorry I did it.
Today I am just hiding from it. Looking out the window it still seems a bit hazier than usual, but nothing like yesterday.

Drove from Toronto to Whitefish Falls today. Ran into some heavy storms, and the rain seems to have cleaned up the air. Right now, skies are blue, with only a slight bit of haziness. I don’t expect it to stay that way, though.
That’s a beautiful part of the country. I’m sorry that the wildfires may be affecting your experience of it. If you have a chance to visit Killarney Provincial Park, you should, though it’s strictly wilderness camping requiring a canoe and portaging. But I think you can rent a canoe and spend at least a pleasant afternoon on George Lake.

Same. Driving to work yesterday morning was downright surreal, and the county suspended all trash pickup.

Oddly enough, Montreal does not appear to have been seriously impacted.
The wind shifted to out of the north here today in the Chicago area, and the weather (temperature and humidity) is becoming more pleasant, after a full week of 90+F and humid, but the smoke has now returned, and we’re back in the “very unhealthy” range.

We are terribly sorry your weekend plans may be “on hold” because of smoke… but honestly, it’s pretty shitty to be complaining about air quality while out of control wild fires rip through our forests, communities, homes, towns and even destroying cities.
Thanks for your compassion… when you complain, you’re showing your true selfish colours, lack of empathy and no regard for the people ACTUALLY being affected by these catastrophic events.
Don’t like my perspective on this?… feel free to unfriend. Until your home is at risk from wildfire, you have no concept as to how this feels to your safety, home and family.
