Not at all. No TV connection here and all my entertainment was written well before the strike. Thankfully.
I just rented last season’s 30 Rock, which I missed the first time around, and I have to say, I loved it. Next I’ll check into last season’s 24 on DVD, and I think I might see if that newer series “Life” is available on the internet.
After all that, I’m going for video games. Og help me, I may just sign up for a World of Warcraft game. Oh, that and I keep telling myself, this is a great time to start going to the gym again.
But it would prove the writers’ point, and it’s not as if they were making any money off of it beforehand (hence the strike). The producers were going to be making money one way or another, though I’d be wagering casdh that advertisers were screaming in fury right about now, and making not-so-idle threats to the studios.
Except for Lost, which hasn’t started yet of course, it hasn’t affected us at all. We tend to watch History Channel (Modern Marvels), TMC, sports, and Law and Order reruns at night. I can’t think of any first-run shows that we watch (other than Lost), so I expect this state of affairs to continue.
Not in the slightest. Well, that’s not true–I’m ready to watch the latest season of The Office, and would like it to finish so I could acquire the whole season.
Nil. Ever since South Park had its horrendous JTS moment, The PJ’s just kinda fizzled out, JAG ended, so did Star Trek The Next generation and Deep Space Nine, and every show I ever gave a damn about on Cartoon Network got axed, I haven’t had much interest in fictional programming. (House MD is good, but not that good.)
I have my video games (too many). I have my DVDs. I have my books. I have a recently factory-resetted computer that’s still missing a coulple non-trial version installs. I have plenty to keep me busy at home.
There’s a writer’s strike?
Since all we watch on network is Survivor, I’m not feeling it at all. Now if the writers on the Food Network go on strike, I’ll notice!
I usually watch 24, so that might affect me in January, but besides that I watch sports, Daily/Colbert if I’m up that late, and whatever random stuff my roommates might be watching. 90% of my TV watching is TV shows on DVD, and I just discovered Veronica Mars, so I’ll milk that for a while.
I’m watching a lot more movies than I usually do. The only shows I am bummed out about are Heroes, but they were going on break anyway, and Smallville.
Oh well I’ve seen some good movies because of the strike. Also I am going to watch the fifth installment of the Prophecy movies tonight. I wish Christopher Walken was in the 4th and 5th movies but oh well.
South Park jumped the shark? When do you consider that happened? I’m curious.
The writers’ strike isn’t having that much effect on me. I watch shows like Mythbusters and Dirty Jobs, The Universe, and lots of shows on Animal Planet, National Geographic, and the Science Channel.
I also have some movies piled up on my DVR that I’ve just gotten around to watching. Classics such as Hang 'em High and Double Indemnity. I also have The Defiant Ones and The Great White Hope to go through.
And there’s always TV Land. I don’t mind a good Bonanza or Gunsmoke episode.
Why am I reminded of Mrs. Pavarotti’s comments to reporters about not putting stock in rumors of his infidelities, unless they could tell her he was being unfaithful with a plate of spaghetti?
Less than I would have thought, to be honest…
I wonder who that scares more…the writers or the studios.
I have to say I was not impressed with the stunt some people pulled on Carson Daly.
I may be catching up with various TV series (cable) via Blockbuster.
It has affected my TV watching not at all, as I don’t regularly watch any scripted shows. I watch a lot of NatGeo, Discovery, DHealth, Food Network, and a little bit of sports. The last fiction series I cared much about was House, M.D., and I just buy the seasons on DVD.
I’m chewing my nails over Supernatural and Lost, but that’s about it.
From what I understand, BattleStar Galactica season 4 is already filmed. We are just waiting for Scifi to get around to playing it. So there should be no effect from the strike.
Ditto. I’ve been watching seasons one of The Wire and Veronica Mars. I’m behind on 24 and CSI, and I want to see Battlestar Galactica, Rome, and The Tudors, and maybe Dexter. I figure I’m good for a good long while.
LOST was deliberately delayed till February, I believe, so it’s not as if we’re missing out on episodes.
I love HOUSE, but it is also not going to be broadcast while American Idol is doing its two-hour slots anyway. That happens every winter.
The writer’s strike is a good thing for me. I’m two seasons behind on NCIS, still on season two of 24, never watched Deadwood, still have to finish Six Feet Under, Twin Peaks, The Shield - I won’t bore you with the whole list but I’ve got craploads of TV shows to catch up on, never mind all the movies I haven’t watched. Still haven’t seen Superman, Spider Man, Pirates of the Caribbean, etc, etc. I’m pretty sure the writers could take the next whole year off and I’ve still got plenty to watch. Heck, take two years.
Oh, and I’ve been putting off getting a Nintendo Wii, and the longer I wait, the more games will be waiting for me.
Have fun during your strike, writers. Take your time.
Not affected. I watch movies, DVDs, and lately more older black and white flicks. But mostly I prefer reading.
