I solved it after the second or third time I rolled the dice. According to the note underneath, that makes me dumb  How long does it take you to solve this puzzle?
Yeah, after two confused dice rolls and wrong answers, I grasped what it was all about.
Dumb.
Well I must be a veritable genius because I spent 15 minutes on it. Then I figured it out and went " :smack: "
Oh, wait, I just noticed this:
Please tell me the above is a joke. If he’s serious, then that assertion deserves a bigger rolleyes than would be allowed on this board.
Well, I must be a freaking genius then. I just don’t get it at all. HELP!
Someone please 'splain it to me!

The ‘petals around the rose’ are the dots which surround a center dot. So if you have a 3 on the die, there are two. If there is a four then there is no center dot and there are none. You add the total encircling dots to get the correct number of petals around the rose on a given roll.
I got it after two incorrect rolls. Must be a farking stooge. Yeah, that’s me.
Thanks, ShibbOleth.
And thanks also to tanookie for emailing me privately and 'splaining it to me.
Too much sun today, I guess. Fried my brain.
After about 17 times I had to admit I still had not the vaguest idea what #^@!@@ rose they’re talking about.
It gets worse. After reading the spoiler I still don’t understand it. I’ve got five dice, I add all the dots but the ones in the middle and I put the result in the box, click “Check” and it says “Nope”.
Somebody started a thread about it last week. There were a few idiots like myself who got it the first try.
Oh, and this may be the problem, it says " Only a basic understanding of math is required and an open and creative mind." There are a lot of creative types on here, but when it comes to openmindedness… :dubious:
Well, I tried it about a dozen times before thinking it was stupid, giving up, and peeking in the spoiler boxes for answers.
I’m dumber than you. I spent about a minute reading the rules, rolled once, and answered correctly after about 5 seconds. Five rolls later, I had answered the same damn correct number 6 times in a row and started getting annoyed. Finally, a roll came up with a different correct number, which I also got correctly. That’s when I thought “this is the stupidest thing I have ever seen.”
After reading that it took Mr. Genius Man a year to solve, I conclude that he is the stupidest man on the planet.
All 6 of the first rolls had a single 5 and no other meaningful dice. At that point I had to mentally go through each number and make sure something other than 5 would have petals. I realized that only 3s do. The next roll was a 1 and four 3s. Woohoo, 8 is the correct answer. Annoying as shit; that’s how I would describe that site.
Does this “game” remind anyone of the drinking games like “One Up One Down” and “I Want To Go To The Moon”?
Actually, I’d like to submit that I did not get it because I am too smart. Well, too exacting, I guess. Same reason I almost failed my driver’s test - I read shades of meaning and subtleties where there was meant to be only black and white.
I considered the correct solution, but discarded it quickly because the question supposes a singular rose, not the sum of the petals around multiple roses!
That’s cute!! I’m going to use it with my high school students.
I didn’t get it.
That’s just retarded!
I must be a moron, cause I got the pattern the very first time!
First try ! But then again I read all those lateral thinking puzzles that were linked last week. I’m certainly no Einstein or Dali.
I suppose if I would have gotten it, I would’ve thought it was brilliant.
Instead, I tried it twice and figured it was just stupid, so I scanned down for a spoiler box to confirm. and confirm I did
Chaulk up another “dumbest person on the planet” here, cause I figured it out on the first roll, and confirmed my theory by the third when a 3 finally popped up.
