So I finally have a shiny new phone coming to my house today to replace my aging iPhone 3G. My Sprint rep started the number porting process a couple hours ago, but I’m wondering how long it might be until I can use it?
She also advised I don’t turn on the new phone until my the port goes through, as evidenced by my previous phone losing its connection. Is that true? Will turning on the new phone early interfere?
I ported a number from a T-Mobile Blackberry to an ATT iPhone last week, and it took about four hours for the number to ring at the new phone. I had both phones on the entire time and the Blackberry would still ring whenever I tested it, right up to the time I was notified the port was complete.
Spouse got a new phone. Some functions like send and receive audio were working in two hours. Voice mail took almost a week and people trying to fix voice mail disconnected send and recieve audio several times in trying to fix voice mail.
