I got lost in Toad Town. ![]()
I don’t play games where you have to navigate through dungeons with a view like what the character sees- I get hopelessly lost in those. I’m fine if there’s an overhead view, a la Dragon Quest.
In real life, I have lousy spatial skills and get lost a lot. Not surprising that it happens in video games, too.
I haven’t been very lost since Zork (“You are in a maze of twisty little passages, all alike.”)
Years of practice and my Male Sense of Direction Instincts ™ keep me from getting very lost in video games. I also have a healthy exploration desire that requires me to check out every direction to see what’s there.

The Great Crystal, on the other hand, nearly drove me to drink. Everything looked alike, there were cryptically named and numbered switches and forcefields, and the “map” was just a picture of the crystal as it might look from a distant airship.

Yep…but I don’t feel too bad about getting lost in there, because of that. They WANT you to get lost. (At least, I assume so.)
