Now that I’m poking around on the internet, I wonder where I got that Japanese Mariners cap. It doesn’t have the Mariners’ logo on it, but it’s in the team colors with the Kanji for “water soldier” on the front. Everything I find on the internet has “Mariners” written in katakana, which is how it should be, in that the team name would be properly written in the syllabary for loan words (マリナ-ズ). Google translate tells me the Japanese word for mariner is 船員. My Mariners hat has 水 兵 on the front.
I don’t have any, but my son has eight, one from each team he was ever on plus a couple he got free at Rockies games. He never wears any of them, but they are hanging around his room, like decoration. I expect he will leave them all there when he moves out, which should happen…soon.
I personally have some caps that might look like baseball caps, but they are tennis caps, that I got for becoming a member of the USTA. I wear them when I’m playing tennis, which unfortunately is not all that often. Well, on reflection, I have two, the others are visors.
I have about 20, but (as others have mentioned) none of them are actually “baseball” caps. As a matter of fact, I don’t think anyone around my area would call them that. I’ve heard them called “gimme” caps, “feed” caps, and a variety of other names. People would know what you mean, but baseball just isn’t a big deal here. With that said, mine are mostly from SCUBA shops, agencies, tourist spots, and other sources. Never bought one, though I’ve had to plead for a couple. I probably wear five or six of them on a regular basis…turned the right way, of course.
Probably about 10. A couple of hats that have sentimental value. A few from my favorite sports teams. I don’t wear them often except for the beach or some other times when I need sun protection.
None. I dislike hats in general, and will wear one only when it’s really cold. Baseball caps aren’t good for cold weather.
Two that I can locate. I buy them all the time, but inexplicably lose them constantly; it seems the universe only wants me to ever have two at any given time.
None ! I am not crazy about them , they really don’t give you any protection in the rain or winter .
ehh… I have one stuffed in my car somewhere. I really don’t wear hats unless I’m going to be in the sun for a few hours with no other protection. For that I use a straw ‘cowboy’ hat (was my fathers). And a baseball cap is useless if it’s cold enough for a hat. Say 15 degrees Fahrenheit and below. For that I go with a head band and hood.
I will say that they are a absolute necessity for wearing with a poncho in the rain though. Concerts and camping and such. I do pack one for long trips where I may be outside a lot. Just in case. They really don’t take up any room.
One for each head, right?
I have a bunch; I never go outside without a hat.
Lately, though, I’ve been wearing full-brim hats, so I rarely wear my caps?
Kinda amazed that people would think I was talking about hats specific to baseball, as opposed to having a certain appearance. None of mine refer to a baseball team, tho 2 of them are from universities that do have baseball teams. I’ve probably got 5 or 6 from various golf courses or golf equipment manufacturers - but I sure wouldn’t distinguish between a baseball cap and a golf hat (or tennis or running cap.)
The majority of them I was given. Every once in a while I’ll see a nice looking one, but with so many already, I can’t bring myself to buy another one. Some are nicer than others, some lighter fabric for summer. A couple of scummy beaters…
More than 25. I used to collect major league baseball caps, especially historical replicas. I rarely wear any of those. I have maybe 6 or 8 non-collectibles, mostly college logo hats, that I wear on a regular basis to keep the sun out of my eyes. If you see a guy in Chicago who looks like Evil Spock but wearing a Chief Illiniwek hat, it’s probably me.
None. I don’t like the way they fit on my head with their plastic backs and scratchy tops and if i’m going to be active I’d rather go hatless. Now once in a great while I wish I had one because the air is cool enough to wear one and the sun is in my eyes, but the uncomfortability of the baseball cap trumps that. Now, I occasionally do wear a flat cap, which is more comfortable than a baseball cap, so if the sun is an issue on a cold day I should remember to don one, but that happens very rarely.
I know I own a few, occasionally I’m given them as promotional items. I tend to throw them out after a while. I haven’t worn one in the past ten years.
I used to occasionally wear a 1950s Brooklyn Dodgers cap and a Yale cap, navy blue with a conservative white “Y” on the front. My co-workers, many of whom were younger than me and losing hair, told me that I had no business wearing a ball cap since I still had a full head of luxuriant hair. (One referred to his ball cap as his “baldy cap.”)
This time of year I wear a woolen Austrian farmer’s hat that my daughter gave me after she spent a year teaching in the Wachau, and a leather Freewheelin’ Franklin hippie/cowboy hat with an IWW button stuck in the band.
Oh. I never wore a synthetic cap with an adjustable band. Ewwww. Only all-wool that I bought in my size, 7 3/8.
I shave my head, so I have caps stashed everywhere. They also make handy souvenirs from colleges at which we debate. Former students also send them to me from whatever college gave them a debate scholarship. So…three at work, one in my pack, two in the car, two by the front door, a good half-dozen in the garage, Og only knows how many still boxed up from the move…
I got a bunch. None of them are political.
None. I had some when I was golfing in Japan, although I tended to wear [https://www.google.com.tw/search?q=ivy+caps&dcr=0&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiDgpuS8NjXAhVBwbwKHULuARoQ_AUICigB&biw=979&bih=470](

"]ivy caps so I’d only have a few.
I don’t really like wearing hats, and – knock on wood – still have hair covering the dome, I don’t usually need to wear one. I will wear a broad brimmed hat out in the sun, but most of my exercise these days seems to be running my fingers over the keyboard.
I voted “None” because I don’t have any out, but I’m pretty sure I have a Cubs hat somewhere in storage. Wore them in my teens a lot About to be 30 and I only wear a hat if it has function (keeping me warm) and not as a fashion statement because I still have full head of thick hair to enjoy. I would probably wear one of those “newsboy” caps again, just haven’t gotten around to shopping for one that isn’t wool (makes me itch furiously).
I do not own a hat of any kind.
