I put this in Cafe Society because it’s about celebrities…
Open ended question… let’s define celebrity as pick any 100 random people in a “population”. If 20 or more have ever heard of the celebrity, it’s a celebrity.
i.e. For the population “Americans”,
Celebrities:
“Baby” Jessica McClure
Secretariat
Jerri Manthey, a.k.a. “Jerry from Survivor”?
Non-Celebrities:

Hi Opal!
Sal Bucsema?
How many total entities would fall into the celebrity category?
…Actually, I think you’ve named all three.
Yep. Baby Jessica, Secretariat and “Jerry from Survivor.” No one else springs to mind.
So there are three celebrities.
Rule of Thumb: If they are ‘celebrated’ in any way, they’re a celebrity.
A celebrity is known primarily for being famous, not for any particular accomplishment. Carmen Electra is celebrity in its purest form.
BTW, I’ve MET Sal Buscema.

Wow…I’ve only heard of Jerri, and that’s only if she was the one that was in Playboy. Who are the others and why am I supossed to know them?
