I’ve got 3 PCs in my office - this machine (dual P3-1000), my Shuttle (P4-2400) which I use for games, and an old 486sx-25 which is for the very old games. The fourth (dual Celeron 400) is currently waiting to be rebuilt with Linux. I also have a domain controller, a firewall running Smoothwall, and what is to be a webserver. I also have a 486 tower system in bits. That’s eight. I’ll probably hit double figures later this year.
One P-3 1.2 gig running XPpro and mandrake
One 233 mhz running win2k/mandrake
both hooked up to a kvm switch , so I can surf on the windows box,and read email in the linux box
And the Xbox for game play
Unlike the other two console games , XBox is more of a computer so I am adding it. Was nice to be able to play halo online , with out needing the pc version.
Mine (Pentium 4 2G)
His (Pentium 4 2.4G)
Server (Celeron 600)
Laptop (Pentium 4 2.6G)
a couple of junk machines
Apple IIGS in the wardrobe
and a couple of hundred old computers out in the shed (estimate maybe 300 machines)
Are we including consoles? If so, we have a GameCube, a Playstation II, three Dreamcasts and a Nintendo 64.
I dont think think the GC and PS 2 count , but could be wrong , on the console threads , Xbox is constantly mentioned as a puter that plays games and not as a game console specifically.
One Centrino-class notebook (P-M 1.4GHz), which I use for just about everything. It’s networked to my desktop computer, which has been upgraded so many times I forget exactly what it is (P3 1GHz+, possibly).
I’ve been seduced by the almost noiseless operation of my notebook, so I don’t use my desktop anymore. I can’t stand the sound of the fans whirring away.
I have my desktop, and my wife has her laptop and her old desktop (which she rarely uses anymore). We rent out a room and our roommate has two machines himself, a desktop and a laptop, which I don’t count towards our total (since they don’t belong for us) but mention them because they are in the home and all 5 machines are on the network.
Plus, I have enough old parts to literally build another complete machine, minus a monitor.
