I really like the Dope’s combination of social interaction with relative anonymity, and so I have a policy about never clicking on links to Doper pictures (except for kittehs! and puppies! ok, any critter) and frankly, wouldn’t want to attend a DopeFest. (You know too much.) But I’ve made these crucial exceptions:
MeanOldLady: apparently, you’re not mean, or old. The jury’s *still *out on the “lady” part, and I doubt I’m the first one to make that joke here. For some reason, when someone pointed out that you’re not an old fart at all, I got curious. However, I just glanced quickly, and the memory is fading. In addition, the Food Network is messing with my head, and now I sorta think you might have looked like Aarti.
Shot From Guns: the 20-some-odd-page Pro-Bonerthread in the Pit included some side shit about you having fat thighs. Turns out: nope, just an unflattering camera angle. **Guns **is actually quite hawt!

ClockworkMelon: okay, there’s no good way to say this, but you reminded me so strongly of an asshole ex-boyfriend of mine that when you posted a pic link I had to click. In retrospect, my ex is older than you and married - and therefore unlikely to be talking openly about an OKCupid profile, which is where I think your pic was - but there was that teeny-tiny suspicion in the back of my mind that I had to be able to set aside before I could post here any more. You two share a very similar sense of humor, certain sexual preferences, and, apparently, taste in movies.
So … how 'bout you? Who knows their Doper buddies by sight, knows their hair color and gender and height and all that? Or are you like me, doing the visual equivalent of sticking your fingers in your ears and singing “Lahlahlah” when people post photos of themselves?

There are 2 dopers I’d recognise because they also posted in the picture thread of another forum where I used to post and have the same user names, but Dopers who I only know as Dopers? None.
I’ve met probably a couple hundred Dopers. But some of them I haven’t seen in a long time, some of them don’t post any more, and to top it off, I am really terrible at remembering faces. I have to really know a person in order for their face to remain distinct in my mind, and a brief meeting at a large party isn’t enough to do that.
I would guess there are probably around 40-50 Dopers whose faces I would immediately recognize, all of whom I have met multiple times. There are a lot more who I would remember with a gentle reminder.
I’ve probably met a half dozen dopers and could easily pick them out, Dolores, FCM, Ringo, etc.
Then there’s the individual pics that have been posted over the years that I remember; Jinwicked, Scotticher, Brachnyrhinos (sp?), QtM, Silenus, Cervaise, Scylla, MeanOldLady, Tranquillis, Gundy, Jarbaby, WordMan, Crotalus, An Arky, etc.
Finally, having looked though Arnold’s Photo Album I bet I remember at least a hundred from there. So, in sum, quite a few.
