I have been wondering since the last time I saw one…How many lighter than air vehicles are currently registered with the FAA in the US. I am primarily interested in powered LTAs (blimps).
I had googled without success.
According to the Census of U.S. Civil Aircraft, there were 38 blimps and 6,993 balloons as of 1994. http://api.hq.faa.gov/CEN/1-194.HTM
