How many illnesses are curable, controllable or treatable

Of all the mentally and physically debilitating things that can happen to a person, how many are treatable? I would guess its over 95% at this point, but I do not know for sure.

True, you can’t fix stage 4 cancer, or a 200 foot fall but most diseases.

As far as the definition of treatment, I guess there are levels of treating people. One level is 100% treatment with a total fixing and remission, one is just some treatment and preventitive measures (like how good diet & exercise cut cancer rates by 30% but not by 100%) that cut the risk and damage, but are not 100% effective. Is it safe to say that 99.9% of medical problems are partially treatable (even something like using good hygiene and isolation to avoid the black plague in europe 700 years ago was a form of partial control) and that about 90% are totally treatable given enough money and time?

Shit, that wasn’t a very clear post.

Take cavities. A cavity is 100% treatable, just drill it and fill it. So are most bone fractures, so are most bacterial infections, so is nearsightedness, so are a variety of viral infections with the use of vaccines, etc. These things are 100% treatable, you get some help and you are back to normal or you can totally overcome the problem with medical treatment. Some things are not 100% treatable in the sense that you can’t overcome it but they are controllable and avoidable to a degree. You can’t stop stage 3 or 4 cancer very well, but you can fight it a bit. Maybe you can’t stop genetically altered bacteria, but you can control their spread with handwashing and shotgun drug methods.

What percentage of medical problems are either 100% treatable or at the very least somewhat treatable?
