How many more attacks before the West has to consider the previously unthinkable?

And yet, here you are, diving into a lengthy, verbose, point by point rebuttal.

No one here has said that. We all acknowledge the role of Islam in Islamic extremism. We just reject that Islam, itself, is the problem. Extremism is the problem.

Violent Christian extremists exist, but no one tries to blame Christianity for it. Why do you insist on blaming Islam for Islamic terrorism, but won’t condemn Christianity for Christian terrorism?

It’s hard to imagine you’re actually reading these threads, given how many times this point has been repeated.

Anybody else get confused when Trinopus and Tithonus are arguing?

Trinopus, Tithonus and Tripolar are my current message board name bugbears.

Where is this murderous Christian terrorism? I blame the Osmond’s.

Depressing, to be sure. I was here first…

Just remember, Trinopus means “What I tell you three times is true,” whereas Tithonus was a naughty Titan who was thrown down in the Titanomachy.

Or something.

(Still, he got a piece of Eos’ ass, so I’m definitely jealous of that!)

You have to repeat it because it is you that is not listening.
Both religions carry the seed for violence, Christiantiy is also recognised as a problem.
It’s just that, at the moment, the more pressing problem is Islam.
Christians, at the moment, do not pose much of a problem.

Your constant interjectionary yapping of “Christians did it too” is preventing a meaningful discussion about the problem at hand.

Please do NOT get into a fight with them, Tamerlane. We’d need color coded posts to track y’all.

What meaningful discussion has been prevented? The OP’s ethnic cleansing proposal that violates not only the constitutions of France and the U.S., but logic and common sense?

It’s all over the place. Christians kill thousands of people in America every year. It’s just that people don’t see it as a pattern. There’s no talk of Christian crime and nobody attributes the crimes committed by Christians to Christianity.

But it’s different with Islam. When Muslims kill people, it’s seen as part of a larger phenomenon. All crimes committed by Muslims are seen as part of an Islamic crime wave.

At this time, it is mostly in Africa: currently Central African Republic and Uganda. Recently, (last decade, or so), Cote D’Ivoire, Nigeria. Going back a couple of decades: Lebanon. There are also a couple of Christian terrorist outfits in northeasterm India, but I do not know whether they are a serious movement or a couple of gangs that are clustered around some Baptist literature.

You’re still missing the real point. Extremism is the problem and not either Christianity or Islam per se. Yes, there are, currently, more Islamic extremists than Christian extremists (both in absolute numbers and per capita.) But this is not “a problem with Islam.” It’s a problem with dangerous, violent, ignorant people.

So, no: you fail to comprehend the purpose of mentioning Christianity, if you think “Christians did it too” is the point here. It is not.

Drones are daily manifestations Christian terrorism.

Hey now, President Obama orders those strikes and our Republican friends assure us, as recently as today, that he is not a christian.

It’s easy to keep track.

Trinopus is the one with rational, reasonable posts.

Tithonus is an Islamophobic bigot.

Tripolar apparently has a triple-personality disorder.

That’ll be The Lebanon that was a majority Christian country for centuries and is now a majority Islamic country, eh?

Bullshit. The only Muslim-committed crimes I ever hear about are ones involving mass shootings or bombings and evidence of religious motives. Are you going to tell me that Muslims never kill anyone in bar fights, or disputes over drugs, or in the process of robbing a liquor store or mugging someone? Because although I never hear about those cases, I have to think they must exist. If they do not, that is truly remarkable and something Muslims should be very proud of and tout widely.

Mil milion gracias!

(I remember, early on, getting confused between you and Watchwolf. But I quickly learned that you were the one who made sense!)

“The naming of Dopers is a difficult affair,
it isn’t just one of your holiday jokes,
when two are alike it just isn’t fair,
and can be wholly confusing to reas’nable folks…”

Regardless of the numerous battles that took place in the Lebanese civil war, (with Muslims killing Christians and Muslims and Christians killing Muslims and Christians), it was Christians who launched the Karantina, Sabra, and Shatila massacres. Karantina was the first large-scale attack on civilians in the war and probably prompted many subsequent reprisal attacks. Sabra and Shatila were launched against people who had been disarmed and were penned in “refugee” camps.
(As to your point, it was that sort of behavior that encouraged Assad the elder to move Syria into Lebanon, resulting in the emigration of most Christians.)

Neither of those words are insulting coming from you. It’s like being called scrawny by Chris Christie.
