How Many NASCAR Races Have You Been To?

I’ve never been to one, and wouldn’t go even if I had tickets that included seats in an air-conditioned, catered luxury box. Racing just isn’t my thing.

I’d like to go to one someday. Crowd is not really my demographic, but there’s not much to dislike about fast cars.

I’d rather go to a soccer game, and that’s saying a lot.

If there were a track nearby I would probably go once for the experience but I’m not going to travel to go.

I have been to zero NASCAR races but I have been to the Indy 500.

I’ve thought about seeing an auto race, but there are no tracks anywhere near New York City. I think the closest one is in Dover, Delaware. I have ridden a lap on the tour bus on the Indy 500 Speedway track, though.

I’ve seen those HUGE traffic jams heading to and from Texas Motor Speedway and can’t find the motivation to suffer through it. No NASCAR around Toronto now, anyway.

Gotta represent here.

About 8, all at PIR. Wasn’t so bad in the beginning, but the crowds got so huge it would take three hours to get back to I-10 (about 5 linear miles), so I quit. It was more enjoyable because I took my scanner to try to listen to the drivers, but instead I found the TV feed and listened to the broadcast instead. Made it a lot easier to know what was going on!

I would rather watch traffic on I-75.

No NASCAR, plenty of local dirt races.

It depends if you are counting only (Sprint) Cup Series or other lower divisions like what is now the Nationwide Series. I’ve been to Cup races at Talladega, Atlanta and Charlotte. Busch/Nationwide Series races as well as ARCA and IROC races at Talladega.

I’ve been to the twin qualifying races in Daytona in 1993 and the Daytona 500 in 1994.

Talladega (fall race) for the last 12 years. Daytona 500 about 6-7 times. Firecracker 400 about 5 times. Charlotte twice (once for the 600 once for the summer/fall race). Atlanta once (and won’t go back - love the track, hate the traffic). Really want to see Bristol one of these days.

One, about a year ago. I think my ears are still ringing.

(Seriously, it’s LOUD. Louder than that. No, still louder. There’s a reason they sell earplugs at the concession stand.)

On the plus side, there’s no line at the ladies room. Men’s, on the other hand…

I was persuaded to join a group of friends once. Even with large quantities of alcohol, it was the dullest thing ever. I cannot fathom how this has become a thing.

Let’s see…

Winston/Sprint Cup:

Darlington Southern 500: 1986
Texas Motor Speedway: 1997-2000,2012
Talladega: 2000 (Dale Earnhardt’s last win)
Bristol: 2012 night race

Busch Series:
Texas Motor Speedway: 1997-2000

Craftsman Truck Series:
Memphis: 2001, 2002

Slim Jim All Pro Series
Memphis: 2001

Goody’s Dash Series
Memphis 2002

Also, I’ve been to an Indycar race at TMS in 2009 and a Rolex Sports car race at Austin in 2013.

I live about five miles from the Speedway and haven’t been there once.

In the 70s my dad was the sales manager in Indianapolis for Brown and Williamson. I spent the weekend of the Indy 500 for I think two - maybe three - years in the suite playing with my little sister. And when I talk to my mother about it, what I remember is it was loud (even inside the suite) and all the women had big hair. My mother laughs - because all the women did have big hair.

I did meet Al Unser and Mario Andretti and Ethel Merman (it was a LONG time ago).

Depends on your definition of a NASCAR race. I have attended 3 Cup races, Riverside 1964, Ontario 1979 and Sonoma 1992. Add to that the 3 Craftsman Truck races at Evergreen Speedway. I have also attended about 25 races of the old NASCAR Sportsman series and competed in the NASCAR Northwest tour back in the late 80’s.

One. I was maybe 8, and my dad was promotions manager for a local network affiliate. We were in the press box, so I mostly just drank Cokes and played my GameBoy. Can’t say as it much gave me any interest in going back.
