If you love Final Fantasy 1 (or, FF in general), then you may appreciate this.
As for other NES games…does anyone here remember Space Shuttle Project? When I was little, I thought the space shuttle was the coolest thing ever, and I loved this game, even though sometimes it was annoying as all hell.
However, the greatest NES game by far, and perhaps the greatest game ever rendered in 8-bit, must surely be Super Mario Brothers 3 .
Am I the only one who thinks that there has never been a baseball game that controlled as well as Baseball Stars? You could hardly see any of the field, but once you played a few games, you just knew where your fielders were offscreen, knew immediately where to start moving on a hit ball, and knew exactly when to dive, jump, or climb the wall. Hot smash down the 3rd base line? Hold left for a second, hit the dive button, and even though you couldnt see it happening, you knew he was going to make the grab.
For some reason, SectionZ sticks in my head, because it was given to me for free, so I didnt get a book, and I couldnt ever make sense of the damn thing. It was a side scrolling shooter with some relatively difficult levels.
I am waiting patiently (ok, maybe not so patiently) for SMB3 to come out on the Virtual Console.
I used to play Baseball Starts all the time with my dad. It was easily my favorite sports game for the NES. (I even remember the little trick you could use to max out all of a player’s stats. It’s right there next to the Konami Code, in my memory bank.)
I played SectionZ when it first came out - probably around age 8 or so. I remember playing it a lot, but I also remember sucking really bad at it.
