Help me choose NES games!

I got a classic 8-Bit NES, and now I need help deciding which games I want to try to find. Here’s a list of what I’ve got and the ones I’m looking for now:

Have:
Legend of Zelda
Mario/Duck Hunt
Super Mario Bros. 2
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Excitebike
Final Fantasy
some other minor stuff like Operation Wolf and Superspike V-Ball

Want:
Metroid
Bill Elliott’s NASCAR Challenge
Tetris (Nintendo version)
Super Mario 3

Feel free to contribute to the list, and to criticize my choices.

It still blows my mind that Super Mario 3 ran on the same system that Super Mario Bros. (and some even more primitive games) did.

I also suggest Snake, Rattle and Roll. I love the music, and the gameplay is so surreal.

Contra!
Though it was a long time ago (when I was in 2nd or 3rd grade), or I may have confused it with Contra 3, I enjoyed the side scrolling shooting. Also try to get River City Ransom. That game was great, seeing you can go beat some people up, take their money, and go eating eggrolls or something.

The NES and SNES games bring back some fond memories, and how much I sucked at those them.

Bah, how much I sucked at them.

Super Dodge Ball (Fun for 2-players)
Crystalis (One of, if not the best RPG for the Nintendo, excepting FF of course)
Mega Man 1-6, but especially 2 and 4, arguably the two best of the series.
Metroid is a great game.
Kirby’s Adventure. Great fun, for me at least.

Of course, YMMV, but for me, these are the best of the best.

The original Rampage-Even without Lizzie, a classic game.

Elevator Action-Don’t laugh. Simple, but enjoyable.

Maniac Mansion-A LucasArts masterpiece, and a cult classic.

Battle Toads-Worth it if only to see the pinnacle of 8-bit special effects and cinematography.

Legend Of Zelda and Metroid are probably my two favorites, for the NES.

Here are some other games I wasted way, way too much time on in my youth. (And still do, thanks to emulation)

Castlevania
Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest
Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse
Metal Gear
Ninja Gaiden
Dragon Warrior
Nobunaga’s Ambition

Baseball Stars - a very basic (and a bit buggy at times) but fun as hell baseball game, but really only fun as a multi player game.
I will 2nd-
Castlevania I-II-III
Metal Gear
Nobunaga’s Ambition
Mega Man (I dont even remember which one I had, but it was fun)
Metroid (of course)
Metal Gear

This is bringing back memories, maybe I will go down to the used gameing store and see what they got in stock.

bionic commando
little known game, was fun as hell.(I think it was NES, might be SNES)

oh yea, and double dragon and basewars(baseball game with battling robotic teams, only fun multiplayer. might be snes)

Yeah Harmonix, I forgot about Bionic Commando. It was for the NES. Kind of like Metroid, a little more basic. You had a “bionic” arm that you would shoot out to grab stuff and swing from. A grapling hook more or less. Good game.

Archon. And definately Bionic Commando.

And as much Mega Man as you can stand.

Two Words: Techmo Bowl.

Most fun football game ever. I still play it.

Forget Tecmo Bowl.

Get Tecmo Super Bowl, quite probably the best football video game that will ever be made.

Kirby’s Adventure.

Ninja Gaiden I, II and III.
Bases Loaded II.

Ah, I got a Game Genie for the nes eventually. It lets you do cheats for the games, it made them more fun

Yes! Best. NES Game. ever! Throwing the lead pipe with a running start! then go buy the OMNI-ELIXER! Sorry…geting carried away…

My short list of fav’s (all have already been mentioned):

Zelda
MegaMan
Contra
CastleVania
River City Ransom

Even more fun is playing “baseball” in this game. Get a stick and a rock, and play it with a friend!

I’ve never had more fun than playing multiplayer RCR and “accidentally” beating up a friend. Since there is no real penalty for dying…

hell yeah… one of the best games ever… that game was so much fun… I actually played it a few onths ago…

was Mike Tyson’s Punchout NES or SNES??? great game either way
