How many of the smallest cities in your state have you been to?

I haven’t been to Dering Harbor (I hadn’t even heard of it before your post) but I have been to Sherrill. Sherrill’s claim to fame is that it’s the smallest city in New York.

In reality, it’s just an average sized town that happens to be incorporated as a city.

Towns with a population of 500 or less with which I’m familiar:

Waldo
Bayfield
Butternut
Egg Harbor
Gratiot
Kellnersville
Lyndon Station
Ourtown
Amsterdam
New Fane
New Prospect
Elmore
Ashford

I thought of listing all towns under 1000 with which I was familiar, but there were too damn many of them.

There are just too many I’ve been to in Texas, especially if you count just driving through. So instead, I will list my favorite - Round Top. It is undoubtedly the star of Texas small towns. I’ve been there many times.

Despite a population of only 80, they have the renowned Round Top Festival Institute (classical music), the University of Texas Shakespeare at Winedale acting program, and the Round Top Antiques Fair (huge, and in its 47th year).

Also not to be missed is Royers Round Top Cafe (seats 40), known for its gourmet comfort food and home-made pies. Their slogan is “Eat Mo’ Pie”. People regularly drive an hour or more from Houston and Austin to eat there. Reservations must be made well in advance during the antique fair, Shakespeare festival or the music institute’s summer performances.

It’s a beautiful little town with many historic homes and buildings, and bed-n’-breakfast inns like this one.

Georgia has 535 incorporated cities. Of the 20 smallest, I’ve been to/through the following (population listed, according to 2010 census):

Riverside 35
Rest Haven 63
Talking Rock 64
Tarrytown 87
Gay 88
Manassas 96
Aldora 103
Geneva 104
Bellville 124
Vernonburg 126
Daisy 130

Only 11 under 500 in New Jersey. I’ve been to or through 6 of them.

I’m just wondering if the OP was looking for “small towns” or “smallest incorporated cities”.

I think the Blue Line has a Vernon Station, so I’ve been there lots of times. It simply looks like another part of South Central.

I went to a company meeting once at their City of Industry branch.

Just by chance, I was on a train once that stopped at Commerce station, just outside L.A. I hadn’t known there was one, or that the train I was on ever stopped there.

Incidentally, City of Commerce was planned as the locale for numerous factories and other industrial enterprises which employ thousands of people, but has a resident population of about 125. After the Bell Gardens scandal, there are some in Sacramento who would like to see Commerce dis-incorporated, and they’ve drafted an addendum to the civic incorporation prerequisites that the town has to have at least 150 residents. Commerce is the only place that would be affected.

I once passed through Lida, NV. The link says it’s a ghost town, but when I drove through there I saw some trailers that were obviously inhabited.

Uh, think you’re confusing Commerce with Vernon. (Commerce has a population of 12,800+.)

Smallest one in Texas that I’ve been to is Quintana, population 56. It’s the 5th smallest in Texas according to this list.

Hang on! Add Todd Mission, TX (pop 107, 19th smallest). I didn’t know that was the home of the Texas Renaissance Festival, I always thought it was in Magnolia.
