Maybe five. After first grade I was skipped ahead to third, so I never really interacted with those people again.

(I went to school with these people through at least sixth grade. A couple of them I was in classes with until we graduated HS).
That’s all I remember right off the top of my head.
Some of your responses have made me question why my memory of first/second grade (same school year) is so weak. I do remember quite a few kids in that same school from later grades, even though I moved away from that town and those kids after 6th grade. Some were in Sunday School, but only a very few, five or six maybe.
What’s creeping back into my memory is that maybe there were several classes of each grade and I was just in separate classes in first/second from the rest of my grade school years.
If I have any class pictures they would be some my mother had the kids pose for so she could take the picture on her camera. If those pictures exist, I must have them in some box somwhere but I know I can’t have seen them in 30 years at least.
Anyway, it sounds like some of you have much better memories of those early school days than I do. Good for you!
What was the question again?
Huh?
I’d rather not think about it. I got really drunk at the five year reunion.
Five year reunion for first grade? Reminds me of one of Sarah Silverman’s bits where she says something like “I saw my father naked, but I was so young – and so drunk.”
None. But then again, I skipped first grade.
41 one years ago and I can name everyone of them, all 5.
I came up with 18. The reasons I can remember so well: small class, K-8 school (I went there from 1st through 7th), and many similar names that were a source of much amusement/confusion. Plus, it was only 20 years ago, which is less than some other posters.
For some bizarre reason, I distinctly remember that there were 23 kids in my class in first, second, and third grades (not all exactly the same kids – the leavings and joinings just evened out each year). Coincidently, I also graduated from high school with a class of 23 (none of the same kids; this was 1500 miles from where I went to grade school). I hate my brain sometimes – why retain this sort of crap?
Me, Donna, Meghan, Trevor, and Johnathan.
That’s all of them. I remember their last names, as well.
Let’s see. Bridgette and Brandon (twins), Chris, Len, Melanie, and…it kind of falls off after that. My first grade was a split class: combined first and second grade. I do remember that Chris was a second grader, mostly because he and I were voted as the classroom’s Fall Festival representatives. My mom still has that picture. Me in a yellow, frou-frou full length formal and Chris in an olive green Tuxedo, all circa 1977.
I don’t remember if we won the pageant or not, though.
I have no idea where any of them are now, despite living only 25 miles away from where we all went to school together until I was in grade 7.
I can remember 3, we all lived on the same block and we sat together when we graduated from high school. I haven’t seen any of them since then.
Nannette Burchard. She was a pretty girl with really curly brown hair. That’s the only name I remember. I’m old. It was too long ago, I guess.
None. I’m not even sure where I went to first grade. We moved a few times during my early school years.
Well, I’m forty and I think that if given my 1st grade picture I could probably name 95% of the kids. Especially since they pretty much followed me thoughout elementary, jr high and highschool.
sigh Michael Perry, I soooo enjoyed playing “catch 'em & kiss 'em” with you. You were such a cutie, even though you turned into a goober.
I can’t remember exactly who was in my class because we had split classes so every grade you would have idfferent people. Though I can name at least five or six pretty easy. I’m sure I have a class picture around somewhere.
A year or so ago I found a picture from around that time of two girls on the bars. I remembered them both right away, of course one of them was the girl who would give me those notes that said do you like me?
Trying to answer this question is an interesting experience…
We moved around a lot when I was younger, so when first considering the question I couldn’t even remember where I went Grade One. Once the school popped into my mind, the image of my classroom slowly coalesced.
After a good minute of furrowed brow, complete with wisps of steam emanating from my ears, I got the first name. Then another but first name only, then one more.
- At this point in typing I paused to think again, and got one more - and he was my “best friend” -
So 3½. I should add my there were only six of us in Grade One so…
Damn - no that was all Grade Two. Mrs. VanWyck’s class in Upsala.
Grade One… complete blank - all I remember is it was Fort Francis St. School in Thunder Bay. I can’t even place the teacher’s face.
Boy would I be surprised if anyone here has even heard of Upsala Ontario
Not as good as I thought. Out of a class with an initial size of 36, I can only recall 16. Don’t think I have a picture anymore… was in 1st grade 1979 --> 1980.

1st grade, that’d be about 1966~67. Man, almost 40 years ago.
I can still remember quite a few, probably half the class. It was a neighborhood elementary school and we all ran around together anyway. I can even remember the teacher’s name, Mrs. Turner.
I can’t remember nearly as many from each class in 2nd grade on, 1st grade made a lot more of an impression.
