Does anyone know how widely celebrated Kwanzaa is? And if possible, how the numbers compare to the number of Americans who celebrate various neopagan Solstice holidays?

I’m just curious, because you hear a whole lot more about Kwanzaa in the media, and yet I’ve known lots of people who celebrate Yule and no one who celebrates Kwanzaa (or at least, no one who ever brought up the fact that they celebrated Kwanzaa). It’s true that I have more white friends than black friends, though, so I’m not really in a position to know.

There’s nothing precluding one from celebrating Kwanzaa and Christmas. In fact, I’m sure many African Americans do just that.

Remember, Kwanzaa is a holiday celebrating cultural and ethnic heritage, not anything related specifically to any religion.
