In the Bible we are told that God created Adam then Eve. They produced Cain and Abel. Where did the rest of the human population come from?
adam and eve had a third son. wasn’t his name, like, sean or something? no… scott? something with an s. what was it?
i’m obviously not very knowledgable, but i think there was something about how it mentions some of the early figures “and their families,” so we’re supposed to assume that God made more people and just didn’t tell us about them, specifically.
People were not created by God. They evolved.
Actually God created not only all people who have ever lived, but everyting else in creation.
Alright, according to the BIBLE, how many people were created? This is not a Darwinian question.
I don’t think that the Catholic idea of original sin allows any other first couples besides Adam and Eve. The Amplified Bible (can’t find an on-line text) has a note that gives a calculation of how many offspring A&E could’ve had in their 600 years of procreation, and how many inbred grandchillun could’ve been born.
God I love that! Cain, Abel and Scott. It sounds like a family off Neighbours!!
Thats always been a sticky question. cain and Abel (and the others) married their sisters?
I think someone asked Pat Robertson once, and he jsut laughed, or something.
I’ve been told that since humans were so “new”, no genetic problems came about because of the inbreeding.
But still, having (what? 500) kids sounds like part of “the curse” to me…
My family is known by our nicknames (for us 3 kids that is):
Slick, Wonk, and Babes. And no inmbreeding either.
In answer to your question, it is only two…Adam and Eve. All other people had biological parents.
Except of course for Jesus who was born of a virgin.

So all other people were created by inbreeding? Even Noah, Moses, Michael Jackson, and people today are all products of inbreeding from thousands of years ago?
Wasn’t Lilith created by God as well?
You asked Biblically, the Bible actually only records the names of two people created by God.
Personal opinions however, usually lend to the simple concept THAT
- if God can create Adam and Eve as recorded in the Bible,
- The Bible records in Ch 4 that Cain appeals to God that other people wil kill him,
- The Bible records only the birth of Cain, Able, and Seth,
- In Gen 4, the Bible records that Cain dwelt in the land of Nod, on the East of Eden. It was there that Cain met his wife.
- The Bible does not record Adam and Eve having any daughters
THAN it only makes sense that God also created these other peoples.
Therefore, incest is specifically ruled out.
However, again, the Bible only specifically records the creation of Adam and Eve.
I hope that this helps, at least a little bit.
Who is Lilith?
She is not recorded in the Bible at all. She may have existed in some Apocryphal book or something, but she does not exist in the Bible.
Another way to look at this question - although I am aware that this is not the way the OP was intended - is to say that God created everyone of us.
Bible verses such as
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
and
From birth I have relied on you; you brought me forth from my mother’s womb. I will ever praise you.
from the Psalms as well as
Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.
from John, show God as being intimatly involved in every aspect of His creation, including the creation of a new life.
IMO, to view God as creating just Adam and Eve and then allowing procreation to become a purely mechanical process reduces God to a helpless spectator.
Gp
Grimpixie,
I agree, in fact, I already stated so. But the question apparently referred to creations who were not actually born.

What about the Nephilim? They were supposedly created by God prior to Adam and Eve (and Lilith).
In Hebrew and Gnostic literature Lilith is the first wife of Adam. She, too, was created from the elements and claimed that, as a result, she was equal to Adam and not subserviant to him. When challenged by Adam she invokes God’s name and flees Eden, only to be tracked down by angels. She is essentially portrayed as a demonic seducer of men from that point on. She is referred to in Isaiah 34:14-15 in some translations of the Bible.
