How many people in the UK share your name?

This page can look at the UK electoral roll for 2001 and tell you how many people in the UK share your name. I have found out that there is only one other person in the country with my name!! Unfortunately, I now have a burning desire to track down this person, but I think that might seem weird (" Hi, um, yes, you have my name…erm, well I found t on the internet, then I tracked you down…no, don’t run away…er, restraining order you say?")
So, how common (or uncommon) is yours?

approximately 32,000 individuals with my forename (of course, that’s 18 and up) and 0000000000 with both my first and last!

There are ZERO people in the UK with my name!

It suggested I “go and look in the mirror because you don’t exist”.

Makes sense- I live in the States, and I was never old enough to vote in the UK.

Turns out there are only twelve people in the entire UK with my surname, of whom six are my dad, brother, stepmother, sister-in-law, half-sister, and niece.

Now get this… there was some gameshow on the Beeb awhile ago in which families competed against each other a la “Family Fortunes”, except they played from their homes.

One of the families (of whom there were about six playing) had the same surname as me, meaning I know of every single person in the UK with my name. How cool is that?

Well, with my married name, 174.
With maiden name, 38.

Funny story: when I was a kid my grandfather remarried. His wife had a grandchild (which makes her my step cousin?) with the same first, middle and last name. It was most bizarre.

My name is unique within the UK. I think that if I were to add my middle name it would be unique across the world.

I wasn’t finished yet. Anyway, since this was in England, it means that I ended up related to the one of 38 people in the the entire country with the same name as me.

2 people in UK have my given name. I am as rare as a wombats wingnut.

1 person in the UK with my same name!

42 people have my officially registered name and 334 have the name I go by. (I go by my middle name and don’t use my first name  )

There is no one at all in the UK with my last name, which isn’t too surprising since I have always been told it was modified by my ancestors in the US from a German name, after they came over from the old country. There are relatively few people even in the US with my last name (24 phone listings, according to Yahoo! People Search).

2 …wonder who the other guy is? Google only turns up me

Oh no, I realise what it is…I was registered twice on the 2001 census, because my Dad didn’t read the small print about students away from home…so I guess I’m unique in two ways

You have “restraining orders” in England? For some reason I’d vaguely assumed you folks would call them “assurances of propriety” or something.

No one in the UK with my last name; like Laughing Lagomorph’s, my name was “created” when the family got to the New World.

2 people with my first name, 3 with my last name, none with the combo. I’m kind of surprised that there were any for either.

67 UK women (presumably) share both my names. I cannot claim surprise, my first name is an old fashioned one and my surname runs to many pages in the Melbourne phone book and my family originally came from the UK 6 generations or so ago.

1,264,441 people with my forename

77,193 people with my surname

and 2,045 people with both the same forename and surname as me (i’m sure if variations on spelling were included that number would be much bigger).

7 with my first name, 43 thousand with my last name.

I don’t exist.
