(a) If I posted to a thread, that means I’m interested in it and want to continue to read it. (b) On the chance that my post offends anybody, or if anybody violently disagrees, I want to know about it so I can address it, and not look like I ran away. (c) Every so often someone will comment on a post of mine or ask a question, and I’d like to participate in any such conversations.
I should add that my surfing habits never include reading thread titles past Page 1, and often I skip a few days. If a thread falls off the first page, I’ll never see it again, unless I’m subscribed to it.
When it goes over 10 or so, I prune the list… generally every two-three weeks I’ll remove anything that hasn’t had a response in over two weeks or so. Except for two or three thread that I stay subscribed to so I can find them in the future if need be.
I’m on auto-subscribe to threads I post to, and every so often I subscribe to an interesting one even though I have nothing to say.
NO email notification!!! (og forbid :shudder: ) - I pull down the “Quick Links” menu and check when I come here.
To elaborate on my above post, I use “subscribe” as a way to see what interesting threads have new responses, and read those. I also subsribe to all threads that I reply to. However, I don’t use email notification.
I keep meaning to go through and prune out old ones, but now that task looks too daunting.
482 threads for me. I just always automatically subscribed whenever I posted and could never be bothered to change it. Plus it makes it much easier to refer back to older threads.
A slew from before the upgrade, which I guess I could take out, since most of them are inactive now.
Currently two, both threads that are not terribly active but that I want to be able to find easily (Musical Lovers and Fantasy Teevee) – I don’t get notifications, but by having subscriptions, I can get to them through there rather than having to remember some distinctive word so I can do a search.
Actually, just added Fantasy Teevee, for that very reason. I’m the only one posting there but I wanted to gloat about the fact that I’ve finally won a week!
