how many the ratio of straightdoper are scientist?

Maybe that’s what led to the unfortunate situation at NIMH.

I have my master’s in biochemistry and work in industry.

Do social scientists count?

Oh. I didn’t think so.

It looks like we biochemists are over-represented in this poll.
PhD in biochemistry, doing protein engineering. Not working in the lab myself. I have students to do the tedious work in the lab.

I have an undergraduate degree in Computer Science. I work for a major university in a research lab. My title has both the words ‘engineer’ and ‘scientist’ in it. You pick.

No, only the antisocial ones.

I’m a scientician also.

I fondly remember helping with some biogas research as a student job while at college. The group put my name on a few papers, even though I wasn’t doing any number crunching. I did lab tests, report editing, and lots of shovelling of fresh dairy manure.

Now my title is engineer and I’m mostly doing project management. Some people thing that scientistsandengineers is all one word, but it really isn’t. So I’d only count as a scientist in a loose way. Although I do watch Mythbusters.

I’m a college student in biology and chemistry. Will hopefully be in a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. program next year for biophysics/protein engineering.

I’m also a lurker who didn’t realize that he no longer has to pay a subscription fee to post!

Engineer with a BS in physics. I don’t do original science, but I create original things relying on those doing the original science. Because I have to test, tweak, fiddle, kick, and clean spilled coffee from my prototype stuff in labs, let’s call me an ‘applied scientist’.

I have a B.S. in computer science and an M.A. in math. I currently teach math and physics at the high school level.

This is me. I actually teach business in China which I believe is where the OP is located.

What do you mean by scientist? And do you only mean active straightdopers?

Pharm. D, physician, surgeon, nicely-published…
Left that racket a few years back.
Now: Little science; little money. :smack:
