I sleep around seven hours a day.
I voted for eight only because that is how much I need. My actual sleep time varies from 6-10, depending on a wide variety of factors.
I put ‘other’ because my sleep isn’t consistent. Some days I might sleep five or six hours, others I might sleep for ten. I would offer an average but I really don’t know what the average would be.
About nine hours, on average.
Between 5 and 9. A lot more some weeks, and less others.
I feel my best with 6 or 7, but have a tendency to sleep more… which makes me feel hungover.
It isn’t terribly consistent (sleep disorder + snoring partner), but usually 6-9 hours.
Five hours, but not all in a row.
I voted for 8hrs because that’s what I think I need, what I actually get is more like 5-6hrs of broken sleep a night.
I voted 8 hours because that’s how much I give myself (i.e. I go to bed 8 hours before I have to get up), but usually I am awake after 7 hours and happily doze away the last hour.
BTW in the last few years I have discovered what an incredible improvement in quality of life getting enough sleep is.
Seven hours. I know because I have suffered from insomnia in the past so now I’m really disciplined with my sleep.
4 to 8 hours.
When my kids were little I used to have a mantra - “I just need eight hours of sleep in a row, three nights in a row…”
Now that they are teenagers I usually get seven, and a consistent seven is good for me. That means heading upstairs eight hours before I want to get up, because I get everything set up for the morning before I go to sleep, and then I read for relaxation.
Seven hours, but it depends on climate. When I’m sleeping in the tropics I’m up at sparrow’s fart, when I’m sleeping in cooler latitudes, particularly in the middle of winter and if there’s wind and rain, I’m capable of sleeping like a teenager, kids never let me though.
Aim for eight, but often get nine if I’m not disturbed. I still owe several thousand hours from the period 1997 to 2001. You don’t appreciate something until you can’t have it, and sleep is like that for me.
Wow. Almost a perfect bell curve after my vote for seven hours:
5 hrs - 7 votes
6 hrs - 13 votes
7 hrs - 22 votes
8 hrs - 13 votes
9 hrs - 7 votes
I didn’t read the responses before voting, but looks like I made it near perfect again with my vote for six hours. 7, 14, 22, 14, 7. It’s actually more like 6.5 hours, but I put six anyway.
I get about 4-6. I’m going to start moving my daughter to her crib full time this week, though, so I expect that number to temporarily plummet, then hopefully increase significantly for all of us.
I sleep 6 hours on weeknights but tend to sleep up to 10 on the weekends including my beloved Sunday nap.
I was getting between 4 and 7 for close to two years (toss and turn, wake up and not fall back to sleep).
I’m on blood pressure meds now (third week) that make me tired. I’ve been sleeping like a rock (7+ hours) for a week now and find it very difficult to get up in the morning.
I get 6 hours on average, but I would much prefer 8.
An ideal weekend for me includes an early afternoon nap on Saturday or Sunday…or both, if I’m lucky.
