I “suffer” from segmented sleep complicated my medications that make me drowsy. I go to bed at my normal time, typically 9 pm and fall asleep fairly quickly. I wake up at midnight, and force myself to go back to sleep with meditation, which usually takes about half an hour. If I can’t get myself back to sleep, it is usually about 3 am by the time i can go back to sleep. I wake up at 5 am to take meds, and socializlize with hubby - breakfast and pills. I have a major sleep attack as in heroin addict quality nods. I couldn’t stay awake if you were prodding me with a gun. I go back to sleep at 6, and wake up at 8 or 830 and do whatever until shortly after my 1pm meds, which put me back to sleep, I wake up about 1.5 hours later or so and am good until my 9 pm meds, which pop me off into lala land shortly afterwards. # of the 7 meds I am on have drowsiness as a side effect  but if I don’t take them, I don’t have a very good chance of staying alive for very long.
I usually get 6 to 7 hours during the week but closer to 8 or 9 on the weekends.
I usually sleep 10 hours a night.
I’m a hypersomniac. It’s not uncommon for me to drift off for 12 to 15 hours. My record for sleeping is about 30 hours straight.
I’d prefer to sleep longer, but I find that, if I sleep more than 8 hours for more than a couple of days, I wake up very sore, and actually very tired, but sleeping only makes it worse.
Thanks to my idiot dog, I can never sleep in, so I might get 7 hours on the weekend, but my usual weeknight sleep routine is 6-ish hours.
