OK, Bush promises tax relief and delivers. We all get checks(well, a lot of us) that are not actually ‘refunds’ in the classic sense, but an advance on our assumed refund on this years taxes.
My question is this. Why not just give the tax relief? Didn’t mailing the checks,i.e the computer work, the man-hours, the mailing itself, etc…didn’t that cost a whole lot of money. My company just bought a company that does direct mailing, and I can tell, it’s pretty expensive and a whole lot of work.
So how much extra did the mailing of checks cost as opposed to just not having to pay as much when we file next April? And why?
