I live in a metropolitan area (more or less), house is about 2000 ft, I’d probably want someone to come once a week for dusting, bathrooms, kitchen, etc.
What should I expect? Anyone with inside info, either from the business side or the homeowner side?
When I lived in Boulder/Longmont, I paid about $55/week to have someone clean my ~2000 square foot house. I stayed away from cleaning services because I didn’t like the idea of a new person in my house every week doing cleaning - I wanted to know just who was going to clean. I had pretty good luck finding people through bulletin boards and in the paper - I just interviewed them and checked their references, and never had any problems with the ones I hired.
I live in Chicago area and we had to have one when I was on reduced activity during late pregnancy. I paid $75 per week for a service to come through - they brought 4 people and they finished in about an hour. My house is about 1400 sq feet, but they also did dishes…
My household, consisting of 2 adult humans in a moderate-small 2 bedroom apartment, gets professionally cleaned monthly. For this service we pay $40.
We get carpet vacuumed and deodorized, some dusting, and all “wet” surfaces scrubbed down, all porcelain cleaned, all non-carpeted floors swept and mopped.
My service provider is: http://hometown.aol.com/giarranot/myhomepage/business.html
They clean better than they design websites…
Here in Bogota, it costs $15,000 pesos ($5.00 US) each day, so that is about $25 US a week. Not too bad and they clean everything, everyday including windows.
I don’t know the sq. ft’age of my home but it’s on the small side. I have someone come in and honsestly she doesn’t do a great job (and knows it) - but much better then I could do, she gets $30/ week in a suburb of NYC.
I don’t like the idea of a cleaning service either.
I pay $70 every week to have a 2-women crew clean my 2300 sq. ft 2-story house. They are here for 3+ hours every Saturday.
It is a little on the high side, but they are dependable, trustworthy, and they do not break or damage things (like my previous cleaning woman) so I glad ly pay it.
They do not do a fabulous job, but at least I don’t have to do it!
In San Jose, I paid $110 for weekly cleaning of my 3600 sq ft home. It took three women about 1.5 hours.
Here in NYC, I pay $130 for weekly cleaning of a 1700 sq ft apartment by one woman who spends about five hours here. And she’s fantastic, absolutely stellar.
