A banana peel in the bottom of a tin can got overlooked. We discovered it yesterday after finding a cloud of gnats circling in the kitchen. :smack: Even more swarming around that banana peel. The peel is in a zip lock bag now. Gnats still in the house 24 house later. Darn things dive bomb us every now and then.
Whats the life cycle of these darn insects? They don’t morph into anything else do they? Like a maggot into a fly?
Bad news. They have a lifespan of about four months.
Catch 'em. Put out a jar with apple cider vinegar and a bit of dish soap. They’ll fly in to drink the vinegar and be held in by the surface tension of the dish soap.
While you’re at it, put all fruit and perishables in the fridge for a bit so they don’t have anything to snack on, and put some bleach down the drains to kill any that are sleeping in there.
I’ll give the trap a try in the morning. These little buggers got to go.
I’ve had good luck using a vacuum cleaner to catch flies, I imagine it’d be just as good on a cloud of nats.
