How often do you do laundry?

Whenever I need clean clothes - about once a week.

I live alone and I work in basically the same clothes that I just bop around in and I only have so many hip shirts in my closet. This is my system. I take all my dirty clothes and put them in a big pile. Socks, undies, shirts, jeans, whites, colors, a random dish towel and an occasional oven mit. Then I grab armloads from the pile and stuff them into my washer. I call this Load #1. Whatever doesn’t fit in Load #1 is called Load #2.

It’s a complicated method, I know, but it works for me.

I never do laundry.

But I have a cleaning lady who comes in every two weeks and does the laundry among other things, so that’s what I put.

(Actually I do laundry occasionally when I need something clean between my cleaning lady’s visits.)

It’s myself, my wife, and two little boys. A few months ago we adopted a new system where I do the washing and drying of clothes and my wife does the folding and putting away. (I do the whole deal for the bedding.) I try to do a few loads during the week, because otherwise it ends up as an all-day event on the weekend. I usually do the bedding every Saturday or Sunday morning.

I chose twice a week since that’s probably the average.

I wear shirts about 3 days each until they’re all in the hamper. Same pair of jeans from laundry to laundry. Socks and underwear by hand in he sink. Bed sheet and towels in with the shirts, one washer-load. Probably an average of 4-6 weeks between laundries, anything more often would be overdoing it.

For me, husband and kiddo together, five loads a week, spread out over the week. A white one with sheets and towels, a blue/black/grey one, a red/brown one, one for the duvetcovers of that week, and a load of all socks once every two weeks. I do the socks separately or else they rub hair over all other laundry. I sort and wash and hang on the line. The cleaning lady irons and folds. I put away.

Zombie thread!

For myself and my husband, I do 4-5 loads every week. Two+ loads of clothes, one load just jeans, and one load of bedding. I tend to wear my clothes twice before washing if they haven’t been stained. His get tossed in the hamper immediately after he takes it off, whether it’s all day or 20 minutes.

About once a week. I would rather do a load weekly rather than wait until everything piles up and do several loads a day/spend a day on laundry.

once every 3 months. I do my laundry quarterly . haha

Bed sheets and towels etc. on Wednesday. Clothing on Thursday evening overnight into Friday morning,

Whenever I have enough stuff for a full load, or if there is something which needs to be washed now (bad stain which will go away without special treatment if washed right away). Most weeks that means one or two loads, but I expect there will be at least three after a visit I’m expecting next week (a set of bedhseets fills up the clotheslines almost completely: two visitors therefore equals two loads, plus whatever I have on my own).

Once a week, including sheets and towels. I would feel really stinky not having fresh sheets and towels every week.

Once a week, usually on Saturday.

I do about two loads of laundry a week; including sheets and towels. I use Nellie’s Laundry Soda because regular detergents made me itch and made my clothes feel greasy. It seems to work quite well.

By the way … I didn’t dig up this zombie just to announce that my clothes were dirty again or anything. I swear, it just … showed up on my New Post’s list. I suspect some wiseacre took the poll and force the thread to the top *knowing * I wouldn’t be able to resist forcing all my laundry habits on you.

I don’t own very many clothes by choice so I wash them (all together in one load, none of this separating nonsense) once a week. Around once a month or so I’ll do an extra wash of things like sheets and towels.

Usually four times a week. I do it as soon as I have a full laundry basket, usually every other day.

I try to do a load a day because I hate spending an entire day doing many loads of laundry. It’s not too bad now that I’ve accepted that laundry is a chore that is never finished, and that’s okay. Sheets one day, towels one day, darks, colors, whites - one day each. shrug It works for me.

MayGirl does her own laundry on Sundays. She does her laundry for cell service. Now, she refuses to let me touch her laundry, and I’m fine with that. MayBoy was offered the same deal, but he chose another chore to pay for his cell service. He still has to tote his laundry to and from the laundry room, though I wash, dry, and fold it.
