How Often Do You Fall Down?

I know, not exactly an earth-shattering question, but I’ve had friends and acquaintances over the years who seem to have a new falling down story every couple of weeks, and it strikes me as odd - I have only fallen down a couple of times in my adult life, and most of them involved ice. I’m wondering if I’m some kind of champ at walking, or these people are just really bad at it.

hmmmm, last time I fell down it was last fall (snerk), at work, while on a 45 degree slope in the middle of the woods. And that wasn’t really a “fall” so much as a sort of slumpover/slippage event. Having broken a leg around 7 years ago (due to brittle bones), I’m EXTREMELY paranoid about falling, so I’m super careful whenever conditions aren’t optimal. Like you, unless conditions are icy, or I’m taken out by an overeager toddler or dog, I usually don’t fall.

Sorry, I meant to add a poll - I’ve asked for this thread to go away.

Are your friends Rick Flair? Dave Foley in a Kids in the Hall sketch? Chevy Chase on SNL in the 70’s?

No?

I’d be suspicious of someone to whom this happened a lot. They’re cooking up some Sympathy Drama.

Are your friends in their 80s/90s? I don’t think I’ve ever “fallen down” as an adult.

Almost never. I have terrific balance and have done some wild dances to remain on my feet when others would have gone down. My wife, on the other hand, has taken some scary falls, because she doesn’t pay attention to where she’s going. The worst was in South Africa when she was looking at scenery and missed a step. I barely stopped her from tumbling all the way down (which probably would have killed her), but she still ended up in a lower leg cast.

Done.
